Also yes Scott talks over them a few times but the questions themselves and the participants involved was awesome nonetheless…

Extortion in Detroit
Miscellaneous Notes:
• “Don Rob”, an affiliate of Anthony Zerilli got into a dispute with Bernard Marchesani over a debt
• Tocco knew Marchesani as a loanshark that worked with the Giacalones
• Scott has previously called him a Detroit member but this isn’t clarified
• The Giacalone crews would apparently send dead fish to extortion victims
Lucchese CW involved with Detroit:
Scott starts off:
In the early 2000s, Robert Molini (who Scott calls a Lucchese member, former Vario crew member and relative of Anthony Grado), turned CW after a drug debt. He was moved to Rochester Hills and continued to present himself as someone with Lucchese ties.

He was eventually “on record” with Eugene Baratta and Anthony Zerilli. He had issues with another Detroit associate over a woman and was eventually indicted in an extortion case with some of their associates (none named).

The case was an embarrassment and was made to go away.
Tocco’s response:
Baratta wasn’t with Zerilli by that point and was “completely with” Anthony Tocco (Tawn). He would not have been friendly with any Zerilli associates but may have been alright with members like Anthony Palazzolo and others from Downriver – who were “loyal to both.”

Tocco believed Baratta’s associates to generally be highly immature. I think the implication is supposed to be that he is a Detroit member but this isn’t clarified.
Nove’s extortion stories:
• John Carlo Inc. (not sure which Catenacci is specifically involved here) wasn’t overly cooperative with the Detroit family
• Anthony Zerilli and Anthony J. Giacalone wanted Tocco to try start extorting John Carlo but it never went anywhere
• A bookmaker and numbers guy had his garage shot at by Tocco’s crew because he refused to pay the street tax (“the service”) and had attempted to go to Vincent Meli for protection, who instead helped Tocco
• At trial, Tocco thought one of the allegations of shooting out a Chaldean bookmaker’s store windows was nonsense because the bullets had come from inside
• One of Tocco’s extortion processes was to start off softly with discussion, then increase pressure until there was violence against property – you didn’t want to hurt the victims
• Tocco once extorted an out-of-towner by giving him an inflated amount at first, then accepting “40%” after the victim went to Detroit member Michael Polizzi for assistance (good cop/bad cop)
Chicago Stuff:
• I’m not sure who the “Chicago assassin” guy is, it’s mostly just stories about violence in any case
• Someone born around the late 1910s, active in Chicago before moving to Detroit and died in the late 1970s
• Not sure if he’s supposed to be a member
• Scott repeats a bunch of Capone myths, which is disappointing
• Tocco met Anthony LaPiana in the 1970s, probably with the Melis
• Tocco did time with James Inendino and thought him to be a gentleman, he helped him out with laundry and quarters for the prison phone
• Scott spoke to Inendino and his family towards the end of his life and were in discussions to possibly tell his stories
Gametax Prosecutor:
• Angelo Polizzi flipped very easily
• William Pompili is not confirmed as an informant but it is heavily implied
• Tocco may have met him in Las Vegas briefly
• John Balistrieri told Tocco not to sign some probation documents that helped him avoid being violated
• Tocco spoke to Balistrieri a few times before Gametax for legal advice
• Lorenzo Viviano and Anthony Palazzolo would do walk and talks in Greektown, so the parking meters were bugged and turned on/off as they moved to capture their conversation
• Anthony Zerilli’s car was bugged during a visit he had with a girlfriend but his date was over before it was finished and because LE had taken his car, he reported it stolen. The FBI then left it near the Detroit River to make it out like it had actually been stolen
• Tocco says that Angelo Polizzi’s most brazen lie was saying that the family went to Ronald Morelli and Nove Tocco for violence – he hadn’t seen Polizzi since he was like 12
• Tocco disliked Morelli and says that Robert LaPuma was the actual violent figure between them
• Tocco says that Robert LaPuma is a Detroit member
• The Peter Cavatio murder was originally thought to be tied into the Gametax case by the Detroit family guys
• Both Tocco and Big Paulie Corrado suspected there would be a case coming but thought it was just for extortion, not RICO
• Bill Bufalino got on his hands and knees during trial to make a point and Tocco thought he wouldn’t be able to get up
