Think about it for a second, does a mobster really have to have face to face interaction anymore to be a good earner? Do they even have to be seen on the streets? You can't do much without wiretaps can you or surveillance footage of a target.
With modern day technology the answer is NO. They realistically can live wherever they want and make money for the crime family in which they work for.
Rackets have moved onto much more white collar stuff in 2025 and the old school approach is pretty much outdated. If I was to guess it would be much harder from a legal standpoint to find men guilty who never conduct business in person and remain ghosts on the dark web for example.
