Yes, that is his brother. Carioscia family were a big clan on Taylor street. The also owned the popular restaurant Mama Sue’s on Taylor.
Yup. Mike Carioscia used to cook at Mama Sue’s which was named after his and Tony’s mother, Assunta Del Fiacco. The Carioscias also had a lot of political clout, as they were in-laws of Johnny D’Arco Sr. I posted some nice photos from back in the day in front of Mama Sue’s, including one with Rollie Libonati.

Here is a picture of Michael with his other brother Franklin in front of Mama Sues. I think some Carioscias still live down on Taylor street.
Fantastic photo. Thanks for sharing the background.
Here is a picture of Sam Scianna and Anthony Carioscia with Hoffa Jr
Sam should have kept the to go location. There Italian Subs and sandwiches were amazing and the selections were better there than at the full restaurant he is running now. Had some really good weekly specials also.

I made mistake. Anthony Carioscia in the 703 is a Jr and is the nephew of Michael Carioscia. He’s the son of Michael’s brother Anthony.
That actually makes a lot more sense age wise.
All roads lead to New York.

Apparently it’s a regulation that any casino project using contractors with even a sniff of OC is a no no. I’d imagine D&P will be shuffled off and it’ll turn back on quickly. In fairness, D&P has a massive presence here, they are everywhere. lol new single family home being constructed across the street from me right now is using one of their dumpsters.

Pardon my ignorance but is this firm still even mobbed up? Hard to tell from the article and search function won't let me look for D&P.
My problem is I hate everybody.

No it is not. It’s ridiculous what they are doing. It is run by Pete’s daughter with help from the grandson and son in law.

It does bring up an interesting topic though, to what degree do businesses formerly run by high ups owing large part to membership and connections that have passed on maintain outfit relationships? We know for example Paul Castellanos sons still had a money relationship with their huge businesses with the Gambinos and utilized their former connections and influence. Maybe nothing these days.

Ridiculous and borderline discriminatory. The Sun Times should worry more about keeping the lights on rather than reporting legit hardworking people

Perfet example of what many mob guys do. They use their career in organized crime to provide legit opportunities for their children so they don't have to take the same path in life. That company is a perfect example.

Looks like every 20 years, D&P is going to prevent a Chicagoland casino from being built. Bally’s is under an obligation from the IGB to have this casino fully up and running by September of next year. Depending on how long this halt work order remains in effect now, that timeline could well wind up being infeasible now and the project DOA. I haven’t been in that area since the project began, so I don’t know how much progress has even been made on it to date.

Some of this stuff does start to get into ridiculous territory. Assuming that everything is on the up and up with contracting and that a company is actually rendering the contracted services, I personally don’t much care even if the company is connected (which I’ve never heard that the grandson even is). If they’re not breaking any laws, then it’s really no different than any other company.

But I’m not the IGB, whose whole rationale for existing is to root out even the merest whiff of mob influence in IL gaming. Looks like the issue here is that the IGB never was notified of or approved D&P as a vendor for the project, and only found out that someone there had subcontracted D&P after the Sun-Times dropped the dime on it. Unsurprisingly, the State is now shutting all work down until the State concludes an investigation of the vendors being used at the site and Bally’s can provide a revamped disclosure agreement for all contractors. Presumably, the IGB will not find any evidence of extant mob connections to D&P anyway, but again, if this process drags on, the casino could well wind up being DOA because of this.

Far enough along that they will likely do whatever they need to in order to get up and running again.

Mob stories are click bait. People are desperate to read anything in the paper about possible mob connected stuff.

The journalists know this and will continue to do it whenever possible.
