Why do so many mob guys in mugshots look like scumbags? Chicago has to have some of the ugliest motherfuckers who wouldnt know proper hygiene if it hit them in the ass.

Quite embarrassing. No pride in appearance whatsoever.

New York on the other hand or Philly? So much better and attractive.

Is this done on purpose by the Outfit? To be ugly?

I wouldn’t say it’s done on purpose, but anecdotally, Frank Calabrese Jr. has specifically said that they were told by their superiors to dress down, drive average cars, and only socialize with their immediate crew, in an effort to attract less attention.

Johnny DiFronzo was incredibly wealthy by all measures later in his life and owned real estate and businesses all over the city and western suburbs. The guy lived in an incredibly modest three bedroom townhome/condo in River Grove until the day he died.

Well I have to say that some of these guys I see I would never think they were a mob guy. Local town drunk though? Yes indeed.

They look normal to me? Some dudes are ugly some are not. Lol theyre not any more or less attractive in Philadelphia or NY. I'd imagine most people dont look great in FBI mugshots.

Yeah I was thinking about this the other day, especially that one clip of him with the suit jacket and shades on. That shit was over the top.

Of course you got mob guys who look the part and know how to dress!

The ones I am speaking of are obviously low level associates. Many of Those guys need a training course in proper hygiene.

The thing is Marcello like Falco noted above always looks the part even when he's got like crummy sweats on. The guy can't help it, it just kind of emanates off of him. :)

Funny - a few of us are going through a new batch of old photos and came across a 'Frank Belmonte' standing with Frank Maltese. At first a few of us wonder if this was the infamous made guy Nick Calabrese spoke about at his ceremony. Turns out he was a government official in Cicero who was caught taking bribes and gave evidence against the Infelise crew  For 30 minutes, I thought I had the photo of the century.

Still clueless on whether another 'Frank Belmonte' exists.

It's Frank DeMonte, the court reporter either transcribed it incorrectly or Nick misremembered the pronunciation.

Agreed, he was just meant to be a mob guy. God put him here to be the real deal that is a fact!

I feel like alot of the guys get arrested in the early morning hours while they were sleeping. So, they just rolled out of bed. Second, they don't always do your mugshot right away. So, you could be sitting in the back of a cop car for a little bit, then the holding pen, fingerprinted, then a cell etc etc. How would you look? I'm not defending them. I'm just saying. How would you look after being arrested for murder?

Most of the Outfit guys I see dress like regular working guys - I've only seen one photo of a higher-up in a track suit (James LaPietra). DiFronzo, Andriacchi, Caruso, etc. - all dress like working guys. Inendino and Sarno always looked the mob part but they were the exception at least in modern times. Even Panozzo with the crew cut and carhardt - these guys want to look like working guys. I think the difference in Chicago is that these guys never wanted to stick out - and many had real legitimate working jobs and companies.

Unsurprisingly you hear similar stories about modern day Genovese guys.
