Interesting information about both the Rovito’s. Everyone I talk to say there is no way Gigi is made and that he is a goof. How reliable is your information?

Not very. This is someone who seems to know a lot but he also said this about the Rovitos. He said that bit and I was like "is this dude high".

The brother being referenced is Gigi. It seems doubtful that Andrew is a member as well as any sort of prior conviction preventing induction, given all the historical examples

Spitballing here: Could be the case that Andy, who has a history of fraud arrests, is just going around bullshitting about being made because he's the kind of person who does that sort of thing, and this BSing has made its way to the internet.

Edit to add that I agree with you JoePuzzles, no one is going to care if Gigi assaulted some broad when he was a minor 30 years ago. That's one of the things that set of my BS detector. But who knows, maybe Solly D is weird about that particular point.

He knows he can’t use the Capri name in the Chicago area so that is probably why he opened it in Hilton Head. Capri is too common of a restaurant name for Gigi to sue him for using it in South Carolina.

Not that it's some giant tell-all but if you look through the photo gallery on Maria Rovito's obituary, there are photos of all the brothers individually with their parents but the only one with all of them together (at least to my eye) that looks to be from the 1990s?

There are like one or two modern photos of Andrew and John together and then some of John and Joseph (not sure if he's supposed to be connected) but there are none with Gigi and any of his brothers.

To second that, I called some of my friends from Taylor street to see if they knew anything about this guy and sent them the video. they said they never heard of the guy or seen the guy despite the guy saying he’s from there.

The source of this (and the Tornabene photos I've posted) are relatives of Carlisi. Black Sam's daughter as well as kids of Roy and Al. There are some additional photos out there and I sense a lot more coming out, which is great. A lot of these children and grandchildren from guys of this era are entering old age themselves - its been great that they have shared what they have.

That's probably the only photo you will ever see of Chicago Outfit made members with East Coast made members. If another one exits, prove me wrong

I had initially thought that George Ceffalio (Ceffalia) was a relative by marriage of the Carlisis and Tornabenes, but it turns out that was not the case.

The Ceffalia surname (original spelling) is specific to the Arbereshe (Albanian) settlement of Piana dei Greci (Piana Degli Albanesi), Palermo, so it’s clear that’s where his parents were from. He was born in 1903 in Beaumont, TX, and his family seems to have returned to Sicily after his birth (this sort of back and forth migration was common with Italians in those days). If I’m correct, he then re-entered the US as an adult, marrying Domenica “Minnie” Cassarà in Chicago. I had initially thought she was a relative of the Carlisis and Tornabenes via the Cassaro side of their family, from Ravanusa, Agrigento. Cassaro, however, is not the same surname as Cassarà, the latter being an Arbereshe surname from PDG, which is indeed where Minnie Cassarà’s parents were from. Well worth noting also that Minnie’s father, Michelangelo Cassarà, remarried the much younger Marie Priola as his second wife. She was a daughter of Chicago LCN member Giuseppe Priola and sister of Rockford member Phil Priola. This sort of marriage would suggest to me that the Cassarà family was likely connected to the mafia (I’m presuming that these two didn’t marry for “love”, considering the huge age gap).

Totally unclear to me how Ceffalio was connected to the Carlisi/Tornabene clan, though he obviously was closely tied to them if that is indeed him in the photo. He was the longtime owner/operator of a tavern on the Near Northside and died in 1976. He was also almost certainly a cousin of Rosario “Paul Ross” Ceffalio, a Little Sicily attorney and longtime 42 Ward Republican Committeeman whose parents were also from PDG (Ross Ceffalio was married to Ursula Granata, sister of mobbed-up US Congressman Peter Granata).

George Ceffalio was never publicly linked to LCN or any sort of criminal activity, so far as I’m aware. Never seen his name come up in any FBI files at all. Chicago did always have some “sleeper” members in its ranks, but if Ceffalio was a made guy he’d have been a total sleeper.
