New Mob Book

Post by PTown »

Gents,

I just finished a book called Mafia Mistaken by John De Luca, an author who has published a bunch on Southern Italy. I bought it on Amazon.

It was a great read, albeit a little short. It took a cheeky, contrarian, and different view about the Mafia.

For example, he doesn’t just retell the old history, but talks about current times, and how bad things are. He takes some extreme views on how no one understands the real names that wise guys use, that no one understands omertà, how illusory wealth is in the mafia, and how politicians in NY continue to have a fixation on them.

It was a fascinating read, and I recommend it. A lot of the themes that longtime savvy readers have posted appear in that book.

Almost forgot one of the reasons I posted. He articulates a view that someone could start or resuscitate an LCN “franchise” in one of the cities, and so long as the organization followed the rules, the Commission wouldn’t do shit, and other wise guys would probably welcome the connections. (Here’s your chance Duluth!) In all seriousness, he outlines a compelling case, and I’d love to hear your thoughts.
