Story about DiMatteo and the Ndrangheta "clan boss" Pennisi met in Rosemarie's. Any idea who either "Rocco" is?
Re: John Pennisi Sighting / Sit Down News
Dimatteo went from being made to consigliere in under 7 years.Either he was a superstar mobster or the colombos were that down bad that they basicially just gave the position to anyoneOcSleeper wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 2:24 pm Tongue Lashing for Colombo Consigliere

Re: John Pennisi Sighting / Sit Down News
Scott recently reported Vinny maddalone was a captain or acting captain and pennisi only knew him as an associate until 2018. Interesting as you say cause do they not trust soldiers they have already? Are they heavily depleted? Or did they have strong associates being held back? Definitely seems strange

It’s not strange some guys move up fast and others never move up at all. It depends on all sorts of factors like earning capabilities leadership abilities and most importantly who you’re close to. With the right rabbi things can happen very quickly.
Re: John Pennisi Sighting / Sit Down News
Sure I just mean in a family with maybe 5 captains? 10 max? And guys who presumably have been made for some time and maybe even fought a war and there’s guys in the life for 5-10 years moving up. Things happen and maybe I’m jumping to conclusions on a small sample but seems there may be a theme of not trusting who they have had or a bit of a mess in their leadership hierarchy which we know they have had the last few years if not longerjohnny_scootch wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 7:28 pmIt’s not strange some guys move up fast and others never move up at all. From the outside looking in you might say the same thing back in 1977 when they inducted Andy Russo and made him a captain right away.Brovelli wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2025 8:51 pm

As far as a ‘mess in the leadership’ I honestly don’t see it that way either. They had Mush as acting boss or official boss from 2009 until the day he died in 2022 with Sally Bread stepping in as street boss for a 2 year period there while Mush did a bid. Teddy P would have taken over in 22 if he was on the street but he wasn’t and they pivoted to Robert D’Onofrio pretty quickly. Seems like a fairly orderly transition at the top of the Colombo’s if you ask me.
Re: John Pennisi Sighting / Sit Down News
I do see 1977 as an outlier with so many guys who would’ve been made years ago that were held back. With Russo guys in the Colombo’s were wanting his son to be present because he didn’t remember things and they didn’t trust him. Mess is a word too far, I guess I just mean a lot of moving parts, persico being official boss until his death only a few years ago and then the transition since the 2021 arrest. Just a lot going on that could lead to some promotions that may be out of the norm as what you said earlier guys having better relationships with certain guys etc which may have helped more recent inductees. I’m not saying anything is right or wrong, just interesting that presumably more “experienced” guys were overlooked for some of these positions

Associate to consig in barely 7 years is definitely abnormal for one of the 5.

I believe Pennisi said in one video that DiMatteo got made around the same time or shortly after he did, so it would've been around 2013ish.
Other examples I can think of for recent quick risers in New York are Ernie Aiello and Johnny Spirito Jr. Both were on the Bonanno acting administration within a few years of being made, obviously aided by the state the family was in and who they were related to (and in Spirito's case lying about who put him there). Both also the youngest NY admin members in quite a while.

Both purely nepotism.chin_gigante wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 4:14 pm Other examples I can think of for recent quick risers in New York are Ernie Aiello and Johnny Spirito Jr. Both were on the Bonanno acting administration within a few years of being made, obviously aided by the state the family was in and who they were related to (and in Spirito's case lying about who put him there). DiMatteo also comes from a connected family. He has two brothers who were Colombo members, Pasquale d. 1999 (Pennisi called him a captain some time ago) and Luca (at one point Ralph Lombardo's acting captain) as well as other relatives who were Colombo associatesSonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 4:19 pmBoth purely nepotism.chin_gigante wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 4:14 pm Other examples I can think of for recent quick risers in New York are Ernie Aiello and Johnny Spirito Jr. Both were on the Bonanno acting administration within a few years of being made, obviously aided by the state the family was in and who they were related to (and in Spirito's case lying about who put him there). My point was Ernie's uncle is the current Bonnano boss and Spirito Jnr's father was an influential member in prison and UB when released. Thats nepotism.
DiMatteo had no powerful family members who enabled his ascension. IE his rise was not due to nepotism, the above examples were.
