Keep in mind who broke and shelved him. There were certainly people unhappy with Peter Gotti's regime who were sympathetic. By the time D'Amico and the Sicilians were running the Family a few years later we see Peter Gotti's influence waning and by 2010 he has the title but the Family effectively belongs to an alliance between the Sicilians and the Nick Corozzo faction, with the Gottis' influence greatly diminished. Cali knew he wasn't supposed to discuss Family matters with DiLeonardo but likely disagreed with the ruling and the direction of the Family.

Along with John Gotti nominating DiLeonardo as consigliere, there were people on the street who once considered DiLeonardo a future boss. Sal Romano said that and so did another source. Peter Gotti and Jojo Corozzo very likely saw him as a threat to their power based on that and DiLeonardo's solid relationship to the Family's other factions which influenced their decision to shelve him. One of the guys DiLeonardo specifically warned Cali about was Jojo Corozzo.

Yeah RJ seems pissed, I think he's unhappy because most people just assumed that Mikey Scars got indicted and then testified when in fact Mikey Scars wore a wire on his own people which I don't think has been mentioned and is a scumbag thing to do which puts Scars in an even more of a bad light with all this 'no excuses' nonsense plus they don't like that OC Shortz is working with Gravano.

At the end of the day both RJ and OC Shortz are scumbags for working with rats, it says everything you need to know about both of their characters.

I think Michael is the most reputable former mobster out there and as you say conducts himself in the most respectful way. On this topic, my only interest is OC Shorts has done a video about a situation I was completely unaware of regarding Michael wearing a wire. I am far from the most well read on the mob and I learn a lot of what I know from people here and the like but OC's video was very good in the sense it brought to light a topic that some of us mob nerds did not know about. I know Michael took issue with the comment about John Rizzo and there's some drama cause OC Shortz is in bed with Sammy but all things considered it was an interesting video and hopefully does not cause any nonsense drama between the two shows which are two of the best there is!

It's been known for many years that Michael wore a wire and what the circumstances were. Maybe not discussed all around the internet but certainly on here. JD posted about it on the forums long ago and shared some of the intel it produced. Not sure how it changes anything related to DiLeonardo's story -- he cooperated and did what cooperators are expected to do.
