what did the Gallos really want?
what did they really want? I have very little faith in the version that they really wanted to become a separate family.

Profaci was really stingy and he had promised after the murder of Abbetemarco that the Gallos would take his rackets but it was not so, the rest is history.

I've read they were specifically promised Abbatemarco's numbers racket. And also, after the hostage situation, Profaci promised them rackets and then reneged after the hostages were released.furiofromnaples wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 9:45 amThis is the fuse that made the war explode.motorfab wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 3:40 am It seems mainly that they felt cheated on the financial sharing of the rackets https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.htm ... lo_profaci

Re: what did the Gallos really want?
Joey Gallo told Jimmy Breslin that when a Sicilian would come to America, Profaci would give the Sicilian money to start a business. If the business failed, Profaci would give more money to the Sicilian to start another business. Gallo was upset that Profaci didn't do the same for the Americanized members.
So based on what he told Breslin it was both financial and due to unfairness / preferential treatment of Sicilians.
