It was a big crew under Sonny C. The Vario crew and one other, the name escapes me split from this crew right before the books closed, all based in Brooklyn. There are more knowledgeable posters on here who would know more.

Vario operated mainly out of Bensonhurst. Tick was born in Dyker Heights, and took over Sonny C 19th Hole. Gaspipe grew up in South Brooklyn and hanged around a lot in Red Hook. Amuso grew up around Park Slope.
The crews were all over Brooklyn area, but Tick operated from Dyker Heights, and Vario from Bensonhurst.

Originally there was one Brooklyn Crew. By the 60s a portion of this Crew seems to have broken off into the 19th Hole Crew (possibly under Funari). By the 90s (maybe even earlier) this crew wound up operating in Bensonhurst. By the 80s (maybe the 70s) another Brooklyn Crew sprung up (the McDonald Avenue Crew) which have broken off from one of the other Crews. This Crew also wound up operating in the South Brooklyn/Bensonhurst area by the 90s.

Here is a breakdown of that Crew that I have put together (with help from JD).

Peter “Fat Pete” Chiodo (1988-1991) Demoted.
-Richard "The Toupee" Pagliarulo (1991) Became Official Capo.
Richard "The Toupee" Pagliarulo (1991-1997) Imprisoned.
-Frank “Frankie Bones” Papagni (1992-1996) Imprisoned.
Eugene “Bobsie” Castelle (1997-2000s) Stepped Down.
-Castelle also served as Acting UnderBoss from 1998/9-2000.
John “Big John” Castellucci (2000s-Present)

I don't know. They probably weren't all confined to that one specific area.

Would be curious to know how the Curiale crew got started with the Gagliano family. The core of the family at that time was based out of East Harlem and from Corleone and Palermo, but here this crew was in Brooklyn and had Agrigento members. D'Arco says something in his book about there originally being one Brooklyn family and this crew was a part of that, but he only had word-of-mouth history and might not remember all of the details he heard correctly anyway. The fact that it was a big deal that Brooklyn members were finally taking over the family in the 1980s tells me that the Brooklyn crew(s) were always seen as outsiders in the family.

I don't belive that they were outsiders,so to say.The Vario crew was very powerfull and always was.East NY/Brownsville and Canarsie was a big big area not to mention the suronding parts of Queenns etc,and Paul kind of ruled that area.I dont understand how Vasso didn't tell who some of the memmbers were in his crew.It had to be a 15-20 made man crew.Do you agree?
