Carmine Galante's brother - Samuel

Post by nash143 »

- Carmine had a brother named Samuel (stated in FBI file).
- Joseph Barbara knows Carmine Galante.
- Joseph Barbara knows a 'Samuel Galante' (see newspaper clipping from '57). Is the one mentioned in the old newspaper clipping Carmine's brother?!...

Is there a date of birth for Samuel Galante in the FBI file?
There you have it, never printed before.

There isn't a birth date as far as I can see. It only states Samuel is older than Carmine, and that he employed by the Department of Sanitation.

It says this one has an address in Endicott and it looks like a Sam Galante from that area was born in 1906. Carmine's brother Sam was born in 1908. Castellammarese were all over western NY so he could also be from another branch of the Galante family, like we saw in Philly. What's weird is in 1920 a "Sam Galente" born in 1908 was listed as an inmate in Buffalo. Whichever one this is, he would have been 12-years-old so it must have been a boy's home or something.

Speaking of Carmine's brothers, I'm not sure which brother is the father of Bonanno member James Galante. Carmine had a son named James as well and both are named after Carmine's father Vincenzo Galante (called "James" like many Vincenzos). His brother Sam's true name is Rosario and the other is Peter. Never seen any indication that either one of them were seriously involved with the mob but is possible. The father Vincenzo was probably a member in my opinion.

Yep... it has been said to be "Camillo" over the years but the earliest records I've seen say Carmelo (and is Camillo even a legitimate name in Italy?).

Too bad. Would have helped us clear the matter. B could be right but In SSDI, I can only find one Samuel Galante from that area. He was born in 1914 and his last address was in Buffalo. The one described in the clipping could be this one, that is if he at some point moved from Endicott to Buffalo.

All I know is that James, the Bonanno member, is a nephew of Lilo and that his middle name is Carmine. He was born in 1936 (Jan 17th).

The Samuel Galante born in 1906 eventually lived in Endwell, which basically runs into Endicott.

I am thinking Rosario "Sam" Galante is James' father. Looks like they both lived in Howard Beach.

Here's a photo I found of the Sam Galante who lived in Endicott and who was linked to Joe Barbara.

Great find. I always thought that Sam Galante was a cousin of Carmine.

Just to be clear, the Sam Galante from the Endicott area might have been a cousin of Carmine. Rosario "Sam" from NYC was Carmine's brother.
