We’ve been told for years now that Luciano murdered both Masseria and Maranzano which led to the creation of the Commission but we know that is not true
What is the truth behind this war and it’s aftermath?

Wonder if the going to mattress sentence came out of this war & not the Banana war in the 60s.

I also imagine how was life like in the neighborhoods during this war? Was it all out warfare or were the shootings mostly carried out in specific areas in NYC? Also, the Reina/Lucchese family was born before or after the war?

Joe Valachi quoted Salvatore Maranzano who said that, so it was at least around by the Castellammarese war

As for the Luchese/Genovese split, it appears the Genovese are the youngest family. After Morello got out and went to war with D'Aquila it appears Masseria and him headed a rebel faction of Loiacano's group, so the Luchese's seem to have been born when Morello was originally boss long before the war.
