Kansas City Question: Angelo Porrello

Post by Adam »

Hi everyone. Was reviewing what I had on the Kansas City Mafia after reading "Mafia Dreams" and it lead me back to earlier books. And I had a question on Angelo Porrello. What exactly was his status in the 1970s-1980s? In The Enforcer, Roemer lists him as a captain(not that I would ever believe anything Roemer said), and he shows up in the family list in To Kill the Irishman, and there are a couple mentions to him in other books, but he really doesn't pop up much. In Mobsters In our Midst and "The Mafia and the Machine" he's barely mentioned. So what exactly was he? I've come across him involved in a jewelry heist years ago but what was his actual status? I kind of feel if he was an actual capo he would show up more. So I'm curious on the KC experts as to his role. If anyone has any information/ideas please let me know. Thanks!

Not sure if he had a share of the Tropicana, but he was linked directly to Joe Agosto by Roemer in The Enforcer. So that would make sense.
