Sonny red
Does anyone know what the Holland 1945 tattoo means that sonny red indelicato had ??
Re: Sonny red
Holland was liberated from the Nazis in 1945, so it's some kind of WWII reference. He was too young to have been in WWII, so could refer to a relative who served/died.

Re: Sonny red
That's what I would have thought too, but figured he was serving but I don't remember when he was born. Remember we did have a few 16 and 17 year olds serving whose parents lied to get them in. My Grandfather and Uncle were two that I can think of. My Uncle joined the Marines and they found out he was too young and kicked him out, so he went to the Army and they welcomed him
How old was Sonny Red at that time?

He was born in 1927. Mafiawiki got it wrong.SonnyBlackstein wrote:Sonny was born in '31. Too young for WW2.
There you have it, never printed before.
Re: Sonny red
Then more then likely he was drafted at 17 or 18.HairyKnuckles wrote:He was born in 1927. Mafiawiki got it wrong.SonnyBlackstein wrote:Sonny was born in '31. Too young for WW2.

Re: Sonny red
Yep sounds like he did then. I figured he had to if he had that tattoo though.

Re: Sonny red
And that's one of those tattoo's that you earn or have a right to have, not just to get even if it's to remember a loved one, relative or friend.

Re: Sonny red
Yep you would rarely see anyone get one in memory, that's definitely one to show you either shed blood or you popped some Nazi's.rayray wrote:And that's one of those tattoo's that you earn or have a right to have, not just to get even if it's to remember a loved one, relative or friend.

Re: Sonny red
Looked him up to see if there were any extant draft/enlistment records concerning him but I couldn't find any. This doesn't mean that he didn't serve, though.
