I met an older man 2 weeks ago who told me a bit about his dad & himself back in the day. (1960s - early 90s) he told
Me his dad had a junkyard in Canarsie (they were from East NY) he said his dad had dealings with Paulie Vario. Later on when his dad died in 1989, he was introduced to Patty Testa who took over the junkyard business & met with him many times. He said Patty was a cool guy, didn’t take advantage of his status & was fair. Then he told me when Patty got killed, Tommy Red took over Patty’s rackets & he was the opposite of Patty. According to him Tommy Red was abusive, money hungry, extorted $5,000 from him and he became discontent with him. So Robert (thats his first name) sold his junkyard & moved out of Brooklyn & to Staten Island. He never got close to mobsters again.

Re: Patty Testa & then Tommy Red
I never met Patty Testa but from everything I heard about him he was well liked and admired (he was a cash cow), Tommy Red a totally different story he always came off like he had something to prove even after he got straightened out and he could be a real asshole. Tommy and another guy in that crew were fighting over a certain associate and in the run up to the sitdown about it which Tommy knew he was going to lose he tried to pull a sneak job and kill the guy before he could lose face at the sitdown. Lucky for this certain person Tommy is a terrible shot.
