Scott is reporting that Massino spent his last days in NY reconciling with family.

Pretty sure Merlino stood up to a murder wrap. Podcast or not Merlino is a stand up guy and more than deserves the right to talk shit on a sitting boss who flipped.

Agreed. Let’s be real, the dude waged and won a mob war in his early 30s, took a decade in prison on the chin, faced numerous indictments and has never said a word. He’s kept his friends close and seemingly stood by them without treachery or disloyalty. Sure, he’s a criminal, he’s not the traditional mafioso, but there’s something commendable about his approach. In a fucked up way it’s respectable that he’s what many are not in that world. I think the guy is easily the real deal and fair for him to talk shit if he chooses to.

There is no doubt Merlino is the real deal but a Cosa Nostra boss doesn’t belong on tv or the Internet or social media at least not willingly. It’s an insult to his position and all the men he represents. By Cosa Nostra standards this is a dark blemish on a long and storied career and some guys won’t care but plenty others will.

Why do people always say Merlino "won" the war against Stanfa? The feds sent Stanfa and most of his loyalists to prison, leaving Merlino to fill the void they created but, unless you think the FBI was working for Merlino, you can't really credit him with winning the war. Imo, it would have been quite interesting to see who would have won if the war was allowed to continue; MAYBE Merlino would have won (or maybe not), but the feds didn't give him the chance to do so, by sending Stanfa away from his reach.

Fair point. I’d say it’s because his group was the last one standing. It’s not cut and dry, it’s subjective. Also there’s plenty of examples all throughout mob history of wars being adjudicated by law enforcement interference. For example, the Colombo War of the early 90s.

Did Massino really think Gotti and Sal were going to kill Him ??? Why would John want to do that??? He basically had Massino’s ear and control. John was the one trying to put the Bonanno’s back on the Commission so he had one more vote with Massino there.Doesnt make sense to me .... Any thoughts ?
