Nicodemo Clipped Long John. He drove his own car to the hit. His wife drove the crash car/mini-van with the kids in it. Afterwards they drove straight home and Nicodemo left the gun on the passenger seat with the door open for a week. Talk about lucky on that one !

I always find it hilarious that people like gravano and alite question gotti as a gangster for things like possibly not bringing a gun to a hit when he would be the 6TH shooter if everyone else failed, yet they are rats. I'm not sure Gotti needed a gun considering he had a small army of guys waiting to ambush Castellano. But Alite is right about Gotti never retaliating for the DeCicco, Lino, and Borello murders. Or the New Jersey Genovese plot against both John and Gene Gotti for that matter.

Even if he suspected it was Chin and/or Amuso he would've known that his usurping the Gambino throne was breaking CN rules, and that members of the commission were justified in taking revenge. Responding against their actions would've opened Gotti up to more attacks.
And a war he probably knew he couldn't win, not to mention resultant LE heat.

Yeah, the FBI came to his house and told Gotti it was a plot from the West Side. And Gravano later confirmed Gotti and he knew the truth even though Chin denied it at the Commission meeting.
