Im helping an aspiring Mafia researcher who is working on a project about Nicholas Maschuci. My friend grew up down the street from Maschuci and was a kid when Nick went missing in September 1974.
Nick is mentioned in FBI files from the early 1960s as a button man under James Napoli, but he is not on the 1963 Genovese chart. Does anyone have a reference for him possibly being a made guy, apart from the one or two mentions in the FBI files? Just curious if he shows up on any other charts.
Nick "Nick Gary" Machuci (sometimes spelled Maschucci) born 12/3/1913 in Jersey City. He was a one-time associate of Newsboy Moriarty in Jersey City. He was involved with Genovese gambling and numbers operations in New Jersey in the late 1950s. By 1962 he was spending more time in Miami Beach and had a condo on Collins Ave. He was close with Joe Chierico, who ran SOnny's on Miami Beach and was a Trafficante associate.
Nick went missing on September 18, 1974. He lived in Kearny, NJ at the time.

Re: Nicholas Maschuci - made?
I don’t think that he was made; however I hadn’t ever seen him mentioned on any lists.
He had a rivalry with Greenwich Village crew member Anthony “Tony Cheese” Marchitto. In the early ‘50s, they fought over control of the Longshoreman union at Port Jersey.
Maschuci’s disappearance probably had something to do with the dock front power struggle in the mid-1970s. William Murphy, the ILA VP, got clipped on Apr 19 1973. His brother, Michael Murphy, was killed Jul 11 1973. Frank Murray, pier boss, went missing on Sep 13 1973.
