Worcester, MA Decina
Been wondering about how the decina in Worcester, Mass. functioned exactly. I've seen them labeled as answering to the New England LCN, but I have conversely read that Worcester was under the control of the Genovese family and that guys like Mastrototaro answered to New York. Likewise I have read conflicting FBI reports. Anyone able to clear this up for me?

Re: Worcester, MA Decina
It was Genovese territory and Mastrototaro was a Genovese soldier. But that crew is defunct and whatever is left was merged with the NY-based Ianniello crew.trafficante wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 8:38 am Been wondering about how the decina in Worcester, Mass. functioned exactly. All roads lead to New York.

From mafia membership chart
WORCESTER.
As stated above, Frank Iacone was probably inducted into the Genovese Family around the late 1920-early 1930’s period. He likely operated alone, or with a few non-member associates. Raymond Patriarca was born in Worcester in 1908 and was probably one of these associates. It is difficult to assess when the faction became a regime within the Genovese Family. Looking at the dob’s of suspected members, it was probably in the 1940’s. According to NARA records the following were members during this period [1940-80’s] : -
Frank Iacone / 1896-1956 / born Castonor ?, Italy / USA 1913, lived in Brooklyn / Naturalized 1937 / possible marriage link to Lombardo brothers of Boston / Conflict with Patriarca [1940’s] /Capo 1940-50’s
Francis Santo / 1908-93 / Soldier
Thomas Sanfratello / AKA Champ / 1910-91 / Soldier
Carlo Mastrototaro / 1920-2009 / Soldier 1950’s / Capo ????-2000’s
James Collaro / 1914-2004 / Soldier
Angelo Iacone / AKA Chester / 1919-91 / Soldier
Salvatore Iacone / AKA Sully / 1917-92 / Soldier
Cosmo Panarelli / AKA Pinky /1920-89 killed / Soldier
Carlo Mastrototaro continued as Capo until the 2000’s, but no other members names are known. With his death in 2009 the regime became extinct.

The Springfield guys stop threw. There's nephews and grandsons of guy. But there's no structure. I'm guessing some guys might be on record with a guy from Boston or providence. It's 45 min drive from either city and Springfield. Safe to say it's defunct. I live here it's a big city 200k+ people. But that aspect is gone. There alot of tough guy who again probably on record with a made guy. Prisoner buddy from the feds. I always wonder if Anthony arillotta spoke on the old guy Carlo if he answered to Springfield in the last years of his life or was he with Matty the horse or the administration direct. He was the liaison to all the patriarca guys in New england
Re: Worcester, MA Decina
Don't know why it says pinky panarelli was killed I don't think that is factual. He's got a lot of family around. All those guy have big familys
Re: Worcester, MA Decina
I also believe iacone sons were patriarca made guys. Ray kept them as a power move to keep worcester his. He allowed genovese guys to make money there but it was his. It in his files he's on bugs saying worcesters his buy since Vito genovese was his good friend he gave the Springfield capo big nose cufuri a 60/40 split on the gambling in worcester. I imagine that was numbers. Sports. And the crap game. But the crap game was run by anguilo so that could be wrong

Frank Iacone was born Francesco Iaconi in Isola Capo Rizzuto, today in the province of Crotone but prior to 1992 in Catanzaro province. He arrived in the US at NYC in 1913 and married Maria Spingola, of Verbicaro, Cosenza province, in Vermont in 1916. By 1917, they were in Worcester, where eldest child Salvatore Iaconi was born.

Interesting. So the handful of Worcester guys who were active then had to both kick up to New England and NY?Pmac2 wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 2:35 pm I also believe iacone sons were patriarca made guys. Re: Worcester, MA Decina
Ray Patriarca was likely a member of this decina before transferring to New England. He was made by the Genovese Family but as far as I can tell always lived in Worcester and Providence.
