Edited to add: The first article mentions the Hells in Quebec having enlisted Francesco Del Balso and Rob Barletta to help the Hells with gaining a greater share of the illegal-gambling market. Law enforcement must have some intel that Barletta is no longer affiliated at all with the London, Ontario chapter of the Hells and is now a member of the 81s in Quebec. (In recent years, Barletta has often been described as a former president of the London chapter.) Barletta, along with Vito Rizzuto and the Figliomeni brothers of the Toronto-area Siderno Group, were principals in Platinum Sports Book. Rizzuto was very close to former HA Billy Miller of Ontario. Times have changed.

For me, yes.

The names mentioned in Claudia Iacono's obituary lend further support that she was the niece who posted on Antonino Iacono's online obituary last year (different funeral homes, but neither visitations were at the Loreto). I'm confident her parents are the well-known Montreal-area restaurateur Leonardo (Leo) Iacono and wife Concetta (Connie) Triassi, both of whom are pillars of the Italian-Canadian community in Montreal and can be found at galas and fundraisers where the megarich Sicilian-Canadians like the Saputos and related Borsellinos will be found.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that her parents and uncle all have ancestry from the Rizzutos' hometown.

Antonio Gallo or wife Claudia or both of them might have done something or planned something so dangerously bold that the consequences were her murder.

I’ve only ever read that Vito Triassi and brother Vincenzo were originally from Siculiana. The Triassi surname is very common in Agrigento (province), in particular in Cattolica Eraclea and Ribera. Intermarriage between residents of those towns, as well as between the residents’ descendants outside of Sicily, was common. So back then, you could be a resident of one town but have relatives in another, either by blood or marriage. Which is why eventually, if you were single and had an arrangement to marry someone from another town, the two of you could already have common relatives before your wedding ever happened.

With the Montreal area having approx. 18,000 people with ancestry from CE, there’s a strong chance that Claudia Iacono’s side of the family descends from CE — that one online condolence on her uncle’s 2022 obituary might be enough to confirm the ancestry.

The murder of Mario Macri in 2018 and that of brother Domenic in 2022 remain cold cases. The brothers had ties to a number of criminal organizations and figures, including in LaSalle itself: e.g., to Pietro Adamo, to Jamie Laramee of the West Eng Gang (fatally shot on July 1, 2013, along with younger brother Cody, inside a bar in LaSalle). I know I'm not telling you and other posters anything new if you have read up on or have been reading up on the Macri brothers.

Socially, at least, Domenic Macri appears to have known Joe Renda (kidnapped in 2012 and never found) and Renda's wife, Benedetta (known as Betty) -- this doesn't answer your question either but is just an example of the apparent ties to the Montreal underworld that Macri had. So they police are saying it’s most likely retaliation for the attempt on Leo and that the conflict is between the rizzutos and another Montreal organized crime group over gambling and sports betting….did we already know this or is this new news? If so who exactly is the other group?
