Lancelloti has a brother named Albert who is a different guy and runs the Jokers mummers club they are all involved with.

It seems like just a neighborhood guy who's a lifelong friend of the top guys in the family.Boston+matt14 wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 4:24 pm Anyone have an idea what Lou DeAngelos's status is in Philly?

Does the South Philly Italian-American enclave still exist?

The mummers parade was always weird to me in that you have made guys dressing up as literal clowns in a parade - I don't think it's an Italian thing but could be wrong?

Yes, 100% there aren’t many places still around like South Philly. The Italian areas are smaller than they used to be geographically but certain pockets of South Philly , especially around Packer Park Area are still all 100% Italian , close knit where everyone knows literally everyone .
Years back I was seeing a South Philly Italian broad and when she first started taking me around people at first thought I was an undercover and gave me dirty looks while turning their backs to me because they didn’t know me from the neighborhood and I am clean cut and in shape so they instantly thought I was another undercover sent into the neighborhood.
That eventually changed after they all got to know me but they all told me they originally thought at first I was another undercover, true story lol That’s a perfect example of how close knit and insular the South Philly Italian neighborhood is…

that's pretty interesting.
These italian guys or Irish guys?
Would they bother to send an undercover into bars in south philly?

It’s not an Italian thing, it’s a Philly thing, and it goes back to the colonial era. Italians apparently did not really get into it until after WW2.

Is Philly down to gambling and loan?
Mazzone said he wanted AC back.
Are there unions in Philly associated with LCN like NYC still has construction and NJ wharves?

I don't mean that, I was just under the impression that South Philly guys were really big on their appearance and being attractive to the ladies, to the extent of doing shit like getting manicures. Or at least that's how George Anastasia described in the early 90s WRT Merlino and friends -- might be different now?Teflon Dom wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2023 6:08 pmSounds made upIvan wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2023 4:05 pmWait what?NJShore4Life wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2023 5:12 am I am clean cut and in shape so they instantly thought I was another undercover sent into the neighborhood.

That's interesting thanks for the info - would be curious to know how the Italians got involved.PolackTony wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2023 10:39 amIt’s not an Italian thing, it’s a Philly thing, and it goes back to the colonial era. Italians apparently did not really get into it until after WW2.
Makes you wonder if the Philly mob has their "hooks" in the Mummers Parade, similiar to the NYC mob and the San Gennaro fest.
Re: Philly mob and Chicago Outfit are on the abyss
Philly has generally been down to the street rackets for the last 30 years, ever since they lost HEREU Local 54. There was also a time when there were connections to the Roofers Union. Ligambi did have a no-show job with a local garbage company, and benefits through an IBT local, up until his indictment in 2011. Some members and associates have been and are involved in smaller construction projects, home flipping, etc.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2023 3:26 pm Is Philly down to gambling and loan?

All roads lead to New York.

Also the auto body scams. The guy who went to jail for trying to kill his daughters fiance or husband or something?Wiseguy wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 7:55 amPhilly has generally been down to the street rackets for the last 30 years, ever since they lost HEREU Local 54.
