merlino scarfo
so merlino shot up scarfo jr in the 80's
Scaro jr was made by L crew to protect him
seems like, from what ive read, that joey m hangs out with perna who is originally from nj L's
I think merlino may have been close with MIchael Perna from prison?
While merlino has been hangingaround with the luchese, has he come upon scarfo jr or do the timelines not align? lol

Scarfo was the Perna's captain for a while but they hated him. I forget which one of them got the chance to tell Scarfo he got taken down and he was more than happy to do it. I doubt him and Joey have crossed paths but if they did I'd love to hear the story.

I’m pretty sure I remember reading that John and Joe Perna got to drive out to tell Scarfo he has been demoted and their father is now captain iirc.johnny_scootch wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 4:48 am Scarfo was the Perna's captain for a while but they hated him. But Scarfo jr wasnt capo of the whole NJ crew before being demoted because was still trying to find a way to turn back to Philly?AntComello wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 7:14 amI’m pretty sure I remember reading that John and Joe Perna got to drive out to tell Scarfo he has been demoted and their father is now captain iirc.johnny_scootch wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 4:48 am Scarfo was the Perna's captain for a while but they hated him. The Scarfo Jr. situation was another example of how little we know until the facts come out from the inside. On RealDeal all of us dismissed the rumors that he was making a move to retake Philly then we learned the Luccheses stll recognized Scarfo Sr. as official boss of Philly and that Scarfo Jr. was reaching out to Philly members and making "former" Philly associates to build up support, however limited and misguided it may have been.
The Stefanelli tapes and the Philly indictment both put a lot of speculation to rest.

Very true. Plus, everyone thought Ligambi was the official boss for a while before Ligambi was indicted as acting boss.B. wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 12:49 pm The Scarfo Jr. situation was another example of how little we know until the facts come out from the inside. During the time when Scarfo Jr. as a Lucchese was trying to build up support and make inroads back to Philly?West Coast1 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 7:40 pm who did the newark philly guys respect as the boss of philly?
I think Merlino. I haven't read much on this era of Philly, and the time around when the Ligambi trial was happening, the Stefanelli recordings were made, etc. but I think Licata eventually became close to or at least on good terms with Merlino and had a good relationship with all of the other VIP members that pal'ed around with Merlino. IIRC Licata has pretty much been the boss of that crew for a long time.
Philly stuff isn't really in my wheelhouse, but I would think that since the Sodano hit happened, the Newark crew recognized and fell in line behind Merlino. They probably recognized a financial benefit themselves in having Sodano gone too though. Scarfo Jr. could have had the support of a couple Newark/Jersey guys or guys that had been on the fringes ever since his Dad went away, but I think for the most part the crew was behind Merlino.
Who knows how much they actually respect Merlino - I assume they'd just get behind whoever the winning team was going to be, so they can be left somewhat alone up there to do their thing, and send just enough money back to not be bothered with the South Philly shit.

Is Carlo Taccetta still around this crew?

I assume Merlino still lives in Florida? So Mazzone was the top guy on the street in Philly. Any word on if they put a guy acting in his spot or who relays any of Merlino's orders while Mazzone is away?
Also curious what roles Mousie and Staino are in since they have been out.

Lance was the one conducting the ceremony.
Re: merlino scarfo
Scott has said Lancellotti handling the day to day as the acting underboss/street boss and Borgesi is acting boss with him having the final say outside of Merlino.Teflon Dom wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 6:09 am I assume Merlino still lives in Florida? Re: merlino scarfo
Philly has alot of guys out there who are all tested and proven. If those guys are still inducting guys there family is probably as big in numbers as they have ever been. Probably 50guys. Merlino don't give afuck about where your from either. He likes you you in. I wouldn't doubt he has a few guys made in Florida who never stepped foot in philly
