I always thought DeSantis was a Canarsie guy but apparently he's a Bensonhurst guy? Any idea if he's still around Brooklyn, or did he move out to the burbs like a lot of these guys have?

newera_212 wrote: Fri Apr 02, 2021 9:31 pm it made sense that there was more than one Brooklyn crew once upon a time, especially considering Canarsie is almost its own little world, and is a world apart from Bensonhurst. Why there were three separate Bensonhurst crews is kind of crazy. What i want to know is when it all became one. When people like Pagliarulo, Castellucci’s brother, etc. all got popped back in the day, it makes sense to maybe merge the Bensonhurst crews ‘back’ into one another...but why then merge it with the Canarsie crew?
But when all those heavy guys hit the street (Conte, Papagni, Argentina, Zappola) it changed the face of that crew and caused a problem because there was little to no chance they would answer to big john who was nothing more then an associate when they were running around killing people and doing decades worth of time for Vic.

So what happens is at the meeting where DeSantis became acting boss Patty red became a captain, they gave him all the guys that originally belonged to the Brooklyn crews leaving Big John with mostly newer guys and guys that didn't necessarily live in Brooklyn or staten island like Pennisi.

I presume that when Patty Red becomes acting underboss Georgie Neck got the Brooklyn crew.

So if these two crews continue to this day they have one Staten Island crew and one Brooklyn crew. Which makes perfect sense because everyone knows half of the Brooklyn italians moved to Staten Italy.
Tonight's episode he confirms this is essentially what happened. He particularly pointed out that those guys (not by name of course) refused to report to Big John.

Just watched the new episode and calls Crea,Crea Jr,Madonna and Dom truscello as real gangsters lmao. They can take your compliments from the inside of their cells for decades

Also mentions there was a half assed plan to make a Lucchese queens crew that only failed because Dibennatto was too much of a bitch to go visit Vic Amuso

Also at the 40 minute mark he says the “hit list” from the Coup letter to Desantis was a media exaggeration and did not exist. And that it was a decision by the Brooklyn crew afterwards in the even it didn’t go well they would move on the Bronx crew

Yeah that was funny and kind of weird. If the whole point was to set up a 'true' Brooklyn crew and throw Dello Russo a bone - it seems like they did it half-heartedly and didn't want to step on Castellucci's toes by stripping him of guys. Maybe the other 'heavy hitters' from Brooklyn who had came home, the ones we all know of from the Casso Amuso era, had already been well re-established and comfortable in different crews by that point.

So there were 3 different sets of 'Brooklyn' guys hoping to get messages to Vic to position themselves in Acting Admin roles? Dello Russo and DeSantis on one side, the fresh-out hitters like Papagni and Zappola on another side, and the Castelle brothers on another side as well? I am I recapping that correctly? Or was it just 2 sets of Brooklyn guys (DeSantis grouped together with the other Brooklyn hitters vs. the Castelle Brothers) both trying to get messages to Vic?

I wonder how differently this would have all played out if the son-in-law really did go to Vic and was able to get a little Queens crew established.

Just listening to pennisi in that interview. Tom asked him something about testifying and John said something like im glade its done. Sounded to me like he's done with federal involvement like Sammy Gravano was after 5yrs. Think they would have indicted DeSantis already im guessing pennisi would be the main witness

Odd that he had Tommy Red and Rugsy in his crew they are long time Brooklyn guys but they do switch guys around quite a bit, maybe they didn’t get along with Big John. Good stuff!

Pennisi has never mentioned Thomas “Tommy Red” Anzellotto in his videos which is surprising
D’Arco said that Patty Dellorusso did a hit with Tommy but that Tommy became nervous or something like that if I remember correctly.

I did once ask Pennisi in the comments if any of the Varios were under Castellucci and he said no. So this makes sense

I think it was the same Tommy because D'Arco's son may have been on that hit. Anzellotto is a cousin of Frank Lastorino and they put him on a hit to fast track him to get a button - D'Arco didn't want his son to be on that hit because they both though Anzellotto had potential to turn into a rat. Apparently whoever they hit , Anzellotto fired shots into the dead body.

Anzellotto was a Canarsie guy and older than Pennisi - he may have not crossed paths. He was involved with Anthony Grado and those Canarsie guys
