Upcoming TMA Philadelphia episode...

Post by Angelo Santino »

Eric and I are going to record one tonight. It'll be an organic conversation but I'm asking the forum, anything that you would like us to cover?

Note: we're not OC Gangsters, we don't cover modern stuff. Speaking for myself, the Scarfo years are fun but I'm only book smart on that era- read Anastasia and have nothing new to add but opinions. Also, Leonetti will be coming out and doing more YouTube so what better than him? I'd only feel comfortable doing an episode on Scarfo if he was on.

I do want to touch on 1870-1930 but we'll try not to make that the focus of today's episode. (I even took notes so I can "run" through it faster). Preferably I'd like to have Eric focus more on the Bruno years. He really deep dived those FBI reports and took elaborate notes.

Perhaps touch upon Trenton, Atlantic city crews and how they came under Philly's hold in the first place. Looking forward to it.

I think Eric dealing with the 1960s files would be really interesting, especially on stuff like the bug in Bruno's office. Looking forward to it.

Obviously the majority of the research I focus on is post-1980, but I always learn something interesting from you guys.

Would like to hear some stuff on Philly's North Jersey crew. Always been intrigued by that and how they got a crew up there.

Looking forward to listening.

Harry Riccobene once said (and I'm paraphrasing here) "the philly family was disjointed and not really organized until the 40's". It think it would be interesting to note how the Sicilian and Calabrese interacted seperately in this group.

You guys said in a previous show about Norristown, Pa possibly being a early hub (which is fascinating and I've never heard before). If you could shed more light on that.

And more info on Marco Reginelli. Dominick Pollina and Dominick Oliveto, Joe rugnetta and Natz Denaro need more light as well.

Looking forward to it.

Deep dive into Caponigro‘s biography, how he ended up with the Bruno family would be interesting. Another interesting topic would be the history of the Philadelphia family in New Jersey going back as far as we can, seeing which members joined, split off to other families etc and the reasons why.

Best to keep this one conversational maybe since its such a broad topic.

Random:
- A convo on whatever points of that 1950s Philly/Angelo Bruno thread that you find particularly interesting - viewtopic.php?f=29&t=128
- A discussion on the mood of Philly in the 1960s to help us further understand what David Lynch lived through
- Carmine Battaglia (status, influence, etc)
- The blurred lines between Philly and NJ / Philly's jersey crew
- NY influence (or instances of their lack of influence) on Philly

Hopefully not too late to the party, but definitely agree that more on the Calabrian faction earlier days in Philly, and the disconnect between the Siggies and Calabrese.
I’ve always found in fascinating that there are Rugnettas, Caponigros and Scarfos in Australia. I know Calabrian families in other cities would often “phone the cousins” in Australia.

Obviously not saying that last part should be a focus, but I think the early Calabrian element and Mister Joe definitely need more attention.

We haven't done it yet as my obligations got in the way today.

Glad some of you are interested in the ethnic dynamics as that will definitely be discussed when we do this.

Go over the myth of Scarfo being especially violent and psychotic. Needs thorough debunking.

Adding to that, debunk the myth that Bruno was so Gentile. Maybe as a Don but not in his younger days.

Talk about Bruno's drug dealing, like Long John told to Leonetti "Angelo Bruno was the biggest drug dealer in Philadelphia."
