Kind of a funny story with the guy Gino Galestro. Caught him off guard like crazy. Bet he never thought another made guy would put hands on him in a million years.

Can never tell what these guys are capable of at any time, so it's tough to say whether this would or wouldn't have happened today - but I have no doubt that Basicano would have quickly had Galestro killed with no procrastination, if he didn't start acting right after that beating.

Even if Galestro didn't want to get shelved, and being excommunicated was his biggest fear, they probably would have still killed him. Pretty crazy to think about the shit that Basciano and them managed to get into, while everything was essentially falling apart. Sitting Boss locked up, Underboss and Captains flipped, disorder on the streets - and he was not shy or hesitant to lay down the law and didn't seem to care that the family had a ton of heat on them in general. With that said...was he a staunch LCN believer? A nutjob? A little bit of both?

Curious to know how Basicano would have handled the Cammarano, Zancocchio, Captains voting situation if he were on the street (or was short to a release date like Mancuso was) today?? Mancuso fell in line behind Basciano's hardcore ethos back in the day, but now that he's in charge, he's shelving guys.

Also, wasn't it alleged that Basciano beat up a Captain himself during this same time? I remember reading that about him, specifically about how guys were bitching about coming up to the Bronx at all hours of the night, and complaining about having to strip for meetings (possibly even a meeting in the Basciano family swimming pool?) - maybe that was just this Galestro situation being conflated or reported incorrectly, but I swore there was something different than this Galestro situation about Vinny personally throwing an older Captain a pretty bad beating for not falling in line...

I was under the impression that he was nobody until he hooked up with Vinny B and even then that was brief until he started smoking crack

Before he hooked up with Vinny he killed a guy in Florida and also took a 10 year sentence. Definitely seemed like a very tough guy who also happened to be around Ernest Muscarella as a kid who taught him how to box.

Frank Coppa too maybe? Feel like I read that rumor before . Picturing these 280-300 lb middle aged guys smoking crack is hilarious. Probably all bullshit. At least Cicale was of the age where it wouldn't be weird for him to be partying and naturally experimenting with drugs when crack was the big thing. Guys like Frank Lino though? lol
