I suppose if the beating is ordered by the (acting) boss of the family then the rule isn't being broken. In the same way that it's against the rules to kill a member but obviously not against the rules if the boss orders a member to be killed.

This is important. I doubt Cicale is just making this story up and if the beating was done with approval of Basciano as punishment for something, then I don’t see how this was breaking any rule. Since LE pressure greatly curtailed the mob’s proclivity to use murder to punish member transgressions, I’d imagine there may be other cases where they decided to throw a guy a beating where in the past they might’ve clipped him.

Definitely. Beating & shelving someone is a lot easier than killing somebody.
Pisciotti also mentioned that Cicacle had assaulted Galestro. He described a meeting that took place at a sushi restaurant after the fact with Cicale and Galesteo where Gino was scared but relaxed a bit when he saw him (Pisciotti) present as he knew him growing up.
Why did he beat the guy up. The geas Brothers beat up Felix trangese a made genovese guy in the Springfield crew. I don't know who gave that order I wonder if arillotta ever spoke on it. I think he still talks to Felix he's never spoke bad about him
It seems like blatantly ignoring / disrespecting your captain by not showing up to meetings or being late is more of a rule violation. Remember Robert Vaccaro smashed Petey Chops in the head for ignoring Greg DePalma’s orders to come in when he called him

Doms latest youtube has to be bullshit?
He claims he beat the piss out of a made guy in his crew. That's a clippable offense under any circumstances. Any.
What's thoughts on Doms credibility post this?
If I remember correctly from Ed Scarpo’s book with Dom it says the reasoning behind Vinny ordering the beating was he thought Gino was pulling all sorts of shit to get put on the shelf. Vinny thought he actually wanted to get shelved so he could ‘run around Staten Island and not have to answer to anyone’. So instead of giving him what he wanted Vinny had Dom throw him a beating. If anyone has the book handy and I’m wrong please correct me.

tony= i agree that beating or shelving is the new whack. Like yellow is the new green lol. These guys break every rule and subsequently lie about it to cover up whatever transgression they committed. From the most egregious to the most innocuous.
