The Eugene Smaldone that died recently was Clyde Smaldone's son, he was in his 90s and probably not even a criminal. Eugene Louis Smaldone is/was the son of Eugene "Checkers" Smaldone and was the dope dealer son that was shunned by the family - "Flipper" is his nickname. Not sure if he is still alive, couldn't locate an obituary.

It is sorta similar to Angelo Marino's son, Salvatore, the San Jose guy. I also doubt either Smaldone was made.

Sciortino I think was related to the Civellas in some manner as well, also don't really have any insight into KC personally.

Chicago has about ten additional suspected members. Most of their names are in the Chicago threads.

I did compile some names but ultimately didn't include the list - looking back now, they should probably have been there:

Bellavia, Bruno Caruso, and Rocco Lombardo have all been listed as made. Joseph DiFronzo and Michael Talarico have also been, but there status as members is seriously doubtful. The source for this is the Chicago Police Department booklet which has listings of crews with additional identifications of "made" members. I'm almost certain they received this intel from the FBI as they worked together on task forces investigating the Chicago LCN.

I'm sure there are more that are unnamed, but they haven't been identified by official LE sources.

I'd personally hold off on adding any of the ones you mentioned. I think that you could safely assume some are made, but I don't know what your criteria for including names is (I assume official documentation of some sort).

I agree with Snakes that DiFronzo’s member status is questionable. He’s a possibility, sure, but I don’t consider him a confirmed member.

Yes, to the first. I remember doing the tiered list but that was before the Chicago PD list.

Using guys from the Chicago PD list also fit into redacted spots on the 1993 list. I also used the PD list and Nick Calabrese testimony to more or less figure out the identities of the "28 members." Those are two reasons why I have confidence in the PD list being made with FBI intel (even if some of that intel was inaccurate).

Not to stray too far off-topic, but here was the Chicago PD list (I alphabetized the names and left out associates). As near as I can tell, the list is from 1999 or so. It has 38 names listed, which is a very reasonable number for membership at this time, as far as I'm concerned:

My position is that we shouldn't expect that government-revealed names are necessarily comprehensive. Some people get the wrong idea about that.

I agree. I'd be interested to see lists after Nick's cooperation and whether they removed names (such as Talarico, who was in the same crew as Nick) based on his info.

Al Lance - I thought it came out in court he was. Or was that just a witness and not the fbi?

There was an article from the Inquirer at the time of the Ligambi trial where one of their reporters (not Anastasia) wrote that Michael Orlando said Al Lance was made. However, I've seen some of Orlando's testimony and when talking about the Lancellottis he only identifies Michael Lancellotti as made. I can't say for sure because I haven't specifically seen the testimony from that day but I suspect the reporter misinterpreted what Orlando said. I put Al Lance under suspected because that article is the only source I can find for his membership

Don't think Montana is made. Yes, Isgro is a Gambino member who has lived in LA for years. His last indictment was out of NY.

Montana has been plugged in as a member over the years, probably because of his association with pornographer Joseph Abinanti who had various connections to different families. Like Paul Rossi, there is not really anything to indicate he is a member.
