i read The Last Godfathers by John Follain over the last month or 2 and it was nuts. These guys like Riina and Leggio were waging war against the Government as recently as like the 80's!

Is there anything light (not focused on courtroom proceedings) that I can read that gets more granular on Leggio or Riina or even the dude that turned rat that was part of their triumvirate? Provenzano i think or maybe bruscetta? i always confuse those Two

This is one of my favorite books on the Sicilians, I'd read Men of Dishonor if you haven't already.

According to the book "Addio Cosa Nostra" by Pino Arlacchi, based on Buscetta's interviews, Salvatore La Barbera was killed by the Commission bosses because they blamed the La Barbera brothers for the murder of Calcedonio Di Pisa, which was in reality committed by Michele Cavataio. The book also says that Cavataio was supported by Antonino Matranga, Mariano Troia and Lorenzo Motisi, who were in conflict with the rest of the commission because they refused to resign from the position of family bosses, when they became Commission members (the first Commission was supposed to include members who weren't bosses of their own families).

+1. Also confirmed by Calderone in Men of Dishonor, they realized later it was Cavataio who was behind these attacks, which lead to the via Lazio Massacre in 1969 and the murder Antonino Matranga later in 1970. Some others men also were killed later, like Giuseppe Sirchia in 1978
