I never understood why when Basciano and Joe Massino were in jail talking about Nick Cirillo's disappearance, the reference of it being Dom responsible was taken to be Quiet Dom and not Dominick Cicale...I mean the kid had the beef in the Bronx with Cicale, why couldn't he have been the one to clip him...the whole notion of Quiet Dom okaying his son's murder, drug addict/problem to the family or not, doesn't sit right with me...

It doesn’t sit right with me either as a father, but I’m also not responsible for multiple murders and didn’t take an oath to LCN over my family. I have no idea what the truth is but I learned a long time ago as a mob watcher that common sense doesn’t always apply. I understand your point, and Cicale could have done it on the sneak, but I think that is less likely. I believe they were talking about it because Massino knew about the kid disappearing and about the beef he had with his family. When Vinny says that it “wasn’t us” and that it came from Dom, he is alleging Quiet Dom gave the ok. If Cicale did it Vinny had to be involved. My gut tells me it didn’t come from the Bonnano family. I look at it logically. The Bonnanos have had plenty of people flip, including Cicale and it never came out that they were responsible. On the flip side, the West Side really hasn’t had anyone flip who would be in a position to know. There is a possibility it came from the Bonnanos, but I just don’t think it is a probability. Unfortunately, we will probably never know what actually happened. Just my 2 cents though.

Massino was talking about it with Vinny because he was wearing a wire & was trying to figure out which family was behind the kids disappearance. It would make sense why the westside would kill nick cirillo. His killers probably ‘rocked him to sleep’ like with most mob hits.

He was close friends with Montagna growing up, I think Montagna was making moves in Montreal after Fiordilino cooperated - but it would still be interesting to hear Fiordilino's input on Montagna. He's talked about it briefly on Tom LaVecchia's show, I recall he was really surprised that Montagna was made so quickly and how he rose up the ranks the way he did. Fiordilino may have an interesting take on why Montagna ended up in Montreal.

Fiordilino was also close with Baldo Amato, who was interfacing with Montreal members too.

I re-listened to a Tommy Dades episode from Calandra's show, and I caught him saying that it while it wasn't right of the government to offer Massino a cooperation deal after he blew trial, and after they already had Vitale, that in retrospect it was a good thing because Massino being wired up at MDC with Basciano ... prevented the death of Greg Andres.

I like Dades a lot, but I can't believe someone as bright as him, with more knowledge of and experience with OC than some actual made members themselves, actually believes this ... basically saying a hit ordered from prison on an AUSA would have went down if Massino wasn't wired up and baiting Vinny in all of those convos.
