Bonnano members
The Bonnano family has been the most interesting famil IMO as far as NY goes in the 21st century. I always like to know the origins of some members. I.E. if anybody has the info on when some guys were made and became captains and so on. Right now Id like to know when Mancuso and Cammarano jr. Were made. Thanks in advance

Re: Bonnano members
Mancuso was made after the three Capos were murdered, and before he murdered is wife.
Cammarano jr was around during the mid and late 1990s, I believe Joe Massino said he was one of the recently made members in the family before he flipped.

Curious where you got him being made in the early 80s? I didn't think he was made until after he got out of prison in the 90s.

Re: Bonnano members
Yeah, that seems to be correct Pogo. The Bonannos didn´t make any new recruits in between 1979 and 1984 due to fear of another agent possibly being among them. Mancuso´s induction was being delayed due to the incident with his wife in 1984 according to informants. So Mancuso was made sometime after he came home from serving his prison term.Pogo The Clown wrote:Giacomo_Vacari wrote:Mancuso was made after the three Capos were murdered, and before he murdered is wife.

I guess between 1979 and 1981 it wasn't fear of another agent it was probably a ban by the commission after the murder of Carmine Galante and the problems after that. Did the informants say if the problem was because he had legal issues or the problem was "why he killed his wife"?

Either that or simply because the books were closed.I guess between 1979 and 1981 it wasn't fear of another agent it was probably a ban by the commission
Most likely because of his legal troubles.Did the informants say if the problem was because he had legal issues or the problem was "why he killed his wife"?

Re: Bonnano members
When Rusty was paroled in 83' he sent messengers to the other family leaders. He wanted to make new members for his family. The Commission allowed him to make only 4 members, with the understanding that he would have to wait at the end of the decade for the Bonanno's to be considered a seat on the commission, It was Cannone who asked for two additional prospects to be made as he was planning on stepping down due to health reasons, which Paul and the two Tony's allowed as he was held in high regard. Michael Mancuso, Antonio Tomasulo Sr, and Salvatore Vitale are the only ones I know that we're made in that time according to a CI who had seen a proposed membership list submitted by the Bonannos.
Michael Mancuso was never a Capo, he went from soldier to acting boss.
Cammarano jr took over his father's crew when he passed away, and may have been serving as acting Capo for a few years for him.

Mancuso di not go from Soldier to Acting Boss. He served as Acting UnderBoss first.

He mainly posts unverifiable info and disappears when anyone asks him for a concrete source. He claims to know intimate details about the Bonanno's recruitment process 70 years ago based on "word of mouth". If he were willing to be transparent and back up what he says, then he'd be among the best people here but unfortunately he never backs up what he says. It's too bad as he's obviously knows a lot of names, dates, and places... it just raises a million red flags whenever he posts.Pogo The Clown wrote:Source?

That makes sense since Pistone was exposed in '81.toto wrote:I guess between 1979 and 1981 it wasn't fear of another agent it was probably a ban by the commission after the murder of Carmine Galante and the problems after that. Re: Bonnano members
This is supported from wiretaps from the hideously written book, I can't remember the name. But it contained wiretaps between Salerno and someone else regarding Rastelli as boss: "If he wants to run it that's fine, but he can't be on the commission." Cafaro in 1985 said something similar: "the Bonannos aren't recognized because there's no order. Today's a boss, tomorrows a new boss." Something like that.Lupara wrote:Seems logical since Pistone was exposed in '81.toto wrote:I guess between 1979 and 1981 it wasn't fear of another agent it was probably a ban by the commission after the murder of Carmine Galante and the problems after that. Well you've earned credibility over the years and collaborated with other people here. You're not some new face coming around with highly specific, obscure information spanning almost a century that can't be found/backed up anywhere else.Chris Christie wrote:I kinda do the same thing although I try my best not to.B. wrote:He mainly posts unverifiable info and disappears when anyone asks him for a concrete source. If Vacari does at some point back everything up, I'll be his biggest supporter and even offer an apology, but until then...

Re: Bonnano members
Just to be clear, when I said:
I meant that in between 1979 and 1981, the Bonannos did not make any new members either because the Commission´s ban on them, or simply because the books were closed. And after the Donnie Brasco incident in 1981, they didn´t make any new members because they feared there could be another LE agent among the proposed recruits. The Bonannos didn´t make any new recruits in between 1979 and 1984 due to fear of another agent possibly being among them
Being on a proposed membership list doesn´t automatically mean being made. Sometimes bosses turn down names, which was the case with Mancuso whose induction into the Bonannos was delayed.Michael Mancuso, Antonio Tomasulo Sr, and Salvatore Vitale are the only ones I know that we're made in that time according to a CI who had seen a proposed membership list submitted by the Bonannos.
Not only that, Mancuso also served as acting captain for Patty DeFilippo when he was indicted in 2003.Mancuso di not go from Soldier to Acting Boss. He served as Acting UnderBoss first.
