he was never a gangster
but he set everyone in his family up
I'm aware he was an associate. But being a gangster/made guy wasn't a criteria mentioned in the original post.

Wiseguy come to think of it, all of the buildings that he got rich off and his old restaurant are in my neighborhood. some as close as a block away.
If you're so exceedingly smart and sure of what's what, how do you even know about him? Do you know his grandkids? Have you eaten at Pontes?
If the person we have been going back and forth about is so inaccurate, where do you get your info from?
His family's holdings have been in the press. Public knowledge.

I would say most of the relatives of the upstate mobsters are fairly well off these days. Todaro family inherited quite a lucrative pizza empire not to mention the real estate. I know the Frangiamore kids and grandkids have a real estate empire as well.
Good stuff. Makes sense. Some of these types of guys get much longer runs, basically have a fiefdom, and get to scoop things up a lot cheaper and easier versus NYC

Definitely had a lot of power and the ears of many powerful made guys because of all the money from the Garbage business. I would include him here as well.

He might be the most wealthy. Or was. That’s not an exaggeration. They couldn’t do garbage anymore and they got in to recycle paperboard, all American Recylcing, bareli’s in Secaucus, the real estate around canal street. His nephews would open a club or bar and run it into the ground. But the family has more money than you can imagine. All those 90s yankee teams went to Ponte’s on debrosses after every title. Ang was close with joe torre because they grew up together. Serious money, serious power. Only reason he didn’t get his button was because they wanted to keep him as clean as possible. He had more power than 95% of them.
Most of you wouldn't be comfortable in my playground.
Moe Dalitz was wealthier than all of them combined, hundreds of millions he left behind

Detroit guys were smarter than most, college educated, business degrees and made fortunes in legitimate industries.
