Great post Chin! I mixed up what Cicale said about Mancuso. I thought he was talking about Pizzolo's hit but it was George's instead...chin_gigante wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 8:29 am- Mancuso was part of the Purple Gang and killed Leonard Filippone in a shootout in 1976. He killed his wife and that is a big one but I can't think of too many mob hits he actually took part in.
He drove a blocking car in the Sciascia hit and as Acting UnderBoss he was most likely part of the plot to kill Randy Pizzzolo. He was in prison at the time of the Seccaffio so not sure how much of a role he could have played in that. Are there any others?
- In 1984, Mancuso shot and killed his wife Evelina.
- Around 1997, Mancuso was involved in an unsanctioned murder at a social club in Queens. The victim was there to resolve a gambling debt but had a gun on him and "got nasty". Vincent Basciano shot him and the body was left in a car in the Bronx. In addition to Mancuso, John Spirito, Anthony Frascone, Emanuel Guaragna, Salvatore Maiorino, Anthony Donato, Salvatore Montagna, and Alan Handler were present in the club at the time.
- In 1999, Mancuso was the blocker in the Gerlando Sciascia murder. Cicale claimed Mancuso actually dogged the hit, but he (Cicale) wasn't there and I'm not sure who he heard that from. Massino was told that Mancuso was there for the murder.
- In 2004, Mancuso ordered Dominick Cicale to kill Randolph Pizzolo.
- Mancuso most likely either ordered or approved the Anthony Seccafico murder from prison in 2009.
Gene Borello was once asked if Mancuso was liked or feared and his answer was simply, "feared".

It was Giuseppe Gambina who dogged the Pizzolo murder

They were going to make him but after the Pizzolo murder Cicale sent word to Basciano saying he wanted to hold off on straightening him out. Ultimately they never did make him and he flipped

Thanks for the info Chin. So really this view of him is not really warranted. In terms of body count bosses like Amuso, Merlino and Bellomo have him beat by a mile.

Merlino was extremely shooty. Exactly the same as Testa, Scarfo, and Stanfa. Though he finally mellowed the fuck out in the 2010s.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 9:18 am Thanks for the info Chin. So really this view of him is not really warranted. He supposedly didn't trust Cicale and told his cousin ("Ace" Aiello) that - word must have gotten back to Cicale because when it came time to do the hit, Gambina was never called upon, and found out about it in the newspaper like everyone else. Turns out Gambina was right in a way since Cicale flipped and his cousin has been locked up for almost 20 years now

- Mancuso was part of the Purple Gang and killed Leonard Filippone in a shootout in 1976. Filippone had just killed Anthony Maiorino (son of Bonanno member Salvatore Maiorino) and shot Mancuso in the wrist and back.

interesting...
carmine lania (son of salvatore) was found near new rochelle high school, shot five times in the back of the head in 1975. lania was involved in dealing cocaine with filippone. his father was busted with ralph desimone for dealing heroin in 1974.
bascianos son joseph was busted in 2013 with a leonard filippone (32 years) trying to ship 13 pounds of pot from california to him. tied to sal larca case.
basciano also learned about frank santoros threat to kidnap his son from two genovese associates named joseph filippone and dominick martino (brother of soldier james martino). two days before the murder mancuso met with james martino. shortly after martino tried to locate his brother about something 'very important'. on the day of the murder mancuso told martino that he would relay the message that he was doing his best to locate his brother. martino meet quiet dom an hour after seeing mancuso.

Was James Martino the Genovese solider who Basciano was referring to when he said he found out the Westside inducted a couple of new guys and they were "all scumbags" ?

Mancuso must be an absolute embarrassment
Re: Mike Mancuso put a contract on Cammaranos
Something that doesn't get mentioned much is Mancuso was very close with Squitieri and Sisca who were friends with his father Tony Nose, a Gambino associate killed in an unsanctioned hit. Given Squitieri and Sisca were helping run the Gambinos just a short time earlier maybe they supported his rise to power.
Curious too if Mikey Nose is related to Wahoo and Jerry Mancuso, Gambinos from the Bronx. Wahoo was a captain.

I think it was Massino who may have nixed Gambina to Basciano in jail because of him being a heavy cocaine user. Gambina was also cousins with Ace Aiello right?chin_gigante wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 9:10 am They were going to make him but after the Pizzolo murder Cicale sent word to Basciano saying he wanted to hold off on straightening him out. Yeah, Gambina and Aiello were cousins and their fathers were major Sicilian heroin traffickers.NorthBuffalo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 15, 2023 7:26 pmI think it was Massino who may have nixed Gambina to Basciano in jail because of him being a heavy cocaine user. Aiello's father was on record w/ Joe Buccellato and Ace was "with" Baldo Amato before going with the Basciano crew. Guessing Gambina followed a similar trajectory. Cicale said Gambina was still involved with Montagna before he flipped too.
Massino raised an issue w/ Basciano when Aiello got made because he hadn't been on record with his sponsor for 8 years (the "Brasco" rule). Basciano argued that because Aiello had been on record with Amato earlier he still qualified or something similar.
