I actually think Allie is one of the few “nepotism hires” these days who was a true gangster. Jr. Gotti proffered in his lone plea negotiation of what, 7 years? Allie is going to do 50+ years and die in prison. You have to respect his commitment to the life.

Not to condone proffering, but Junior was facing a major RICO indictment which included 3 murders I believe? Maybe 4, not sure on the number but murder was on the bill...

I think you missed my point. What I’m saying is, far too many times we have seen children of gangsters cooperate or attempt to (Gotti, Franzese, etc. ). It shows they weren’t cut out for the life. On the other hand, Allie ate a life sentence without cooperating. He definitely belonged in the life and was probably a good choice for boss at the time.

It’s quite a sad story because he was hit with a life sentence while his father was also serving a sentence that would ensure that he would die behind bars
I wonder how much guilt Carmine Persico felt about his sons’s life sentence

It's weird in like 96 97 Allie boy put a hit out on some member who disrespected wild bill then 2 yrs later he has wild bill killed. Allie boy was a complicated guy. He was close to bill in those few years even comfortable anuff to make him his underboss

Persico was made a captain again when he got out of prison and Cutolo was in his decina for a bit.

Michael DiLeonardo said about Cutolo “He had boss mentality” meaning he wanted to take over the family so this is what led to the hit and as for his Underboss position, the general consensus surrounding it seems to be that Persico wanted to appease the Orena faction by doing that and keep Cutolo close to him.
It seems as if Cutolo’s ambition was his downfall but his daughters told Cosa Nostra News that he didn’t want to take over the family after he beat a major case in the 90s but it seems as if he did want to take over the family

Good point. He really did seem as if he was capable enough for the life and he certainly has stayed true to it.

I think I read or heard on a podcast that Cutolo was gonna be hit with an indictment not too long after he was murdered...the Feds were making a case against him

My apologies, I understand what you were saying now...yes it's commendable Persico stayed true to the life and took his life sentence...Same can be said about Jackie Zambooka who went down for life on the same case...

Piggy backing on your comment about what Scars said, he also said that the idea that Allie Boy Jr. wasn't boss material and a full on gangster is a myth. Said Allie boy jr. was not at all a case of "he's just the boss's son."

Pogo The Clown wrote: Thu Feb 09, 2023 6:00 am It was a quote from the book Donnie Brasco. One of the associates around Jilly Greca was bitching about how he had put in more work than the guys getting made into the Colombos (including Little Allie Boy).
It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Joey Cantalupo provides a tiny bit about Persico’s early days in his book:

-In the mid 70s he had a pinball machine business. His uncle got him the arcade concession at Cantalupo’s flea market. He had 15 machines bringing in $4000 a month.
-He also ran loan sharking in the flea market.
-He was usually found by his uncle’s side at the Diplomat Social Club.
-He attended a big party (150 people) at Tomasso’s restaurant in April of 1977 with other recently made members and admin members of the Colombos, Luccheses and Gambinos.

Jackie would say that he brought Cutolo into the family and then brought him out
He said that down in the MDC Brooklyn. He’s up there in age now and last I checked, he’s in MCFP Springfield
