Supposedly clyde is an english equivalent for gaetano. I suppose clyde was a more fitting name at the time than gaetan or guy. As for clarence, im not sure were they got that from but i beleive his real italian name would have been vincenzo. Hence the chauncey nickname which supposedly sounds like "cenzino" a nickname forn vincenzo.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Thu Feb 09, 2023 8:51 am Clarence and Clyde. It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Lmao, I forgot that quote. I do remember when that guy called him guido and he said that his name was clarence

So was the Eugene Smaldone that was the son of Eugene the one that they were talking about as possibly being made or was it the Eugene Smaldone the son of Clyde that just recently died the one that was possibly made?JoePuzzles234 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 3:03 amThe Denver PD chart appears to have been made during the 1960s, prior to 1967/69, given that John Pricco and Charles Blanda are on it. It also seems unlikely that he was inducted, given the description of him in the Smaldone book:
flipper smaldone.png
From the Smaldone book, on Eugene "Flipper" Jnr:I think a total falling out like this would eliminate any chance of induction, since towards the end of the 1970s (Pueblo leaders Colletti and Spinuzzi were dead by 1975), whatever was left of the powerbase had seemingly shifted to the Denver area and the active Smaldone brothers would have been the ones making membership decisions - at least in theory.Checkers was a career criminal, but he loathed drugs and drug dealers. Eventually, he and the rest of the family shunned Young Eugene. The final break came when he told his son, “You get out of my life. I don’t want any part of you. You’re nothing but a dopehead.”
While the interaction is not dated, Young Eugene/Flipper probably had fallen out with his personal family (who pretty much made up the entire LCN one) earlier than the time of his drug case in 1973 and it seems unlikely that he would have been a member for that reason. That is my speculation, at least.
To answer this, Gallo talks about in Breakshot and on his blog, Villano dealt with LA caporegime Luigi Gelfuso over some sort of dispute related to a Las Vegas hotel that both families had an interest in. Eugene Jnr is also pretty consistently referred to as Eugene Louis Smaldone in LE docs from the 1960s and is seemingly not mentioned in this 1976 report as a confirmed or suspected member either:

I have it in my notes that he was still alive last year, I believe Wiseguy had him still being around as well during discussions about Denver in one of the national membership threads.

There is speculation about both possibly being members - it depends where you look, LE definitely was more towards Eugene Louis Smaldone, the son of Eugene "Checkers", since he was an active criminal.Patrickgold wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 10:36 amSo was the Eugene Smaldone that was the son of Eugene the one that they were talking about as possibly being made or was it the Eugene Smaldone the son of Clyde that just recently died the one that was possibly made?JoePuzzles234 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 3:03 amThe Denver PD chart appears to have been made during the 1960s, prior to 1967/69, given that John Pricco and Charles Blanda are on it. Interesting. Was Clyde’s son Eugene ever connected to any crimes or listed in any lists? Or was only speculation bc of who his father was. That would be funny if he was made and a high school coach lolJoePuzzles234 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 11:02 amThere is speculation about both possibly being members - it depends where you look, LE definitely was more towards Eugene Louis Smaldone, the son of Eugene "Checkers", since he was an active criminal.Patrickgold wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 10:36 amSo was the Eugene Smaldone that was the son of Eugene the one that they were talking about as possibly being made or was it the Eugene Smaldone the son of Clyde that just recently died the one that was possibly made?JoePuzzles234 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 3:03 amThe Denver PD chart appears to have been made during the 1960s, prior to 1967/69, given that John Pricco and Charles Blanda are on it. I don't think he was ever convicted or connected to anything serious, he is not present on any official lists either, apart from the speculative redacted name (almost certainly Paul Villano) on the June 1993 FBI doc.Patrickgold wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 1:27 pmInteresting.
