Let me add, obviously Scott has put himself in a position to be criticized and his approach to this subject always brings that out. I'm not part of a cabal of researchers with any investment in Scott's coverage of current mafia events and I believe people should question him when they feel it's appropriate and have done the same myself.

However, I do know these rumors have roots apart from Scott's article and people were aware of them independently prior to his articles. Not just the "comeback" shirt (which is confirmed) but also the rumors of a serious dispute taking place involving these people and violence is in the air, some of these rumors actually being similar to what Johnny found with the Glen Cove shooting before he discovered it (shooting, property damage).

If it's true, it's not terribly surprising on its own given Cammarano told Lovaglio in 2016 the issues with the Mancuso faction could have become violent if Palazzolo hadn't gone to prison and Carrube said Bonanno members had to sit outside of Allie DiPilato's restaurant with guns in 2017 because of the Cammarano-Mancuso conflict. The "surreal funeral home melee" shows this came to a head last year now that Mancuso is on the street and we know Mancuso is a spiteful, violent person who has been trying to secure dominance over the Bonanno Family since Massino flipped and Basciano went to prison. Cammarano staged a "coup" to depose Mancuso and the funeral incident shows Mancuso was looking to hurt Cammarano personally and physically even recently.

Scott's coverage is sensationalistic, no question, but he didn't invent the basic rumors going on right now. I'm not convinced the rumors are 100% factual because I have no inside track and know things can get distorted. Scott chose to cover this story and do so in a certain way but he didn't create the basic rumors themselves. If they end up being untrue, partially true, or completely true it makes no difference to me personally but it's interesting for sure.
