You got that right ! MobTalk is just trying to draw in the viewer. Just like Fat Angelo is trying to draw in the customers with the name of his restaurant. There was some good footage there though. How could they not know they are being watched all hanging around together like its the Ravenite Club in little Italy in 1986 ? Don't they know how that story ends? Also is it me or does Stevie Mazzone look abnormally skinny in those pics? Or does Borgesi just look extra plump?
Nicademo used to have a real estate office, at least when he busted in the Borgata case .. I remember the Mob Talk where Nicademo got caught on tape name dropping Junior Gotti and Carlo Gambino.. what an idiot… Pungitore looked like the most legit .. Mazzone etc are playing the part
The best part was the philly mob is legit now cuz they are in real estate. The mob and real estate have gone together like peas and carrots for many years
I agree with phat,I love those old fucks and he's right.we all got some cosa nostra in us.I personnely love the life.I think we on the forum would be the ultimate crew! - camerono

Yeah really. They take the money they make from illegal activities and funnel it into legitimate stuff. Hasn't the mob everywhere always done this? That is not news.
The only really good thing about this video was the video footage, the rest was lame.
The idea of Merlino and his own acting boss Ligambi being in different factions makes no logical sense to me.

That's the conversation where Nicodemo was telling his associate Micali that he had been made, basically. He was telling him, in fewer words, that because he was made, members of other families had to go through proper channels.
Pogo The Clown wrote:To me a faction is the Merlino faction, the Riccobone faction, the Gallo faction, the Orena factin, etc. A group within a family that does not recognize the Boss, does not kick up and does its own thing. So far there is nothing to indicate that any of these "factions" are not recognizing the leadership, not kicking up or are doing their own thing. So far all this faction talk is much to do about nothing.
A faction doesn't indicate to me that a group is breaking any rules, not recognizing a boss, etc. To me it simply means that there is a group of some kind (be it one crew, multiple crews, a certain geographic area, etc.) that is loyal primarily to themselves and is less likely to accept the status quo without speaking their piece. Think of the Dellacroce/Castellano factions, the Lucchese Bronx/Brookyln factions, Bonanno zip faction, and countless situations like that going back even deeper into history.
There are rivalries among factions, but there is also a lot of diplomacy that keeps groups from full-on rebelling or going to war. It's a slippery slope for sure and these situations can escalate quickly as history has shown, but I think with the larger families you can be pretty much guaranteed that there are always a couple of factions in competition with one another, it's just little if nothing comes of it. It's a reason why certain people might get promotions, etc.
I don't doubt that there is a loose Merlino faction and a more clearly defined 80s era faction in Philadelphia, with a number of guys caught in the middle. They have always been a very factional family and there are some competing egos and different outlooks at play. The question is if it's as big of an issue as the articles want it to be. I personally have no idea.
I get what you are saying but I would also say the whole Castellano/Dellacroce, Lucchese Bronx/Brooklyn, etc factions talk has also been overhyped as well.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.
I agree with Pogo that a faction is a rebel group. However it could also apply in a sense that when the Boss puts guys from his old crew into leadership spots and shows those capos favoritism and anyone not being from that crew being marganilized, thus causing discontent from the other faction.
I also concur with Pogo in the overhyped Bronx-BK Lucchese and Dellacroce-Castellano. Amuso would kill BK members just as quick as BX as we saw with Facciolo and Gilmore. And with the Gambinos it seemed that even Gottis crew feared Castellano like god, didnt Dellacroces replacement capo get busted down by Paul? Castellano had absolute power so theor wasnt any factions per say.
My opinion is it lies in the middle leaning more towards a rebel group being labeled as a faction as opposed to a certain geographic area or crew.
Factions exist without rebellion. There's always a faction grouped around a personality, an area or a blood family. It doesn't mean that they're about rebel or even there's any problems but it does mean that if an opportunity for a "promotion" comes up the faction will be backing (one of) their own guys and if it comes to fighting then they fight on the lines of the faction.
This is the case in all walks of life. Politics, business and just about every collective human work there's always factions.

How was the gambino factions overhyped when one faction whacked the other to take over? Doesn't get any bigger than that

Because it wasn't the Dellacroce Faction that killed Castellano. It was Gotti and some others that were opposed to Castellano. In fact with the exception of Gotti all of the conspirators were from the "Castellano faction".

Merlino went to war with Stanfa thats a split faction ,
Scarfo went to war with Riccobene that was split faction .
Now Joey Pung is a faction ...Where is the proof of this rumor

Yeah, I think you're right. Those sorts of factions are just the natural state of an organization like the mob (or any large group with a lot of egos, money, power at stake) and it's the exception when serious problems come about. Same thing for even a business/company. I would still call them factions, however.
