His paternal grandfather was Antonio Nigro, who immigrated to KC from Marano Principato, Cosenza province (an area of Calabria with very strong connections to both Chicago and Kenosha); he was a paternal uncle of the Mariano Nigro of KC that Antiliar noted above.

The father of Joey Lombardo’s wife, Marion Nigro (she was also the first cousin of Chicago member Joey Andriacchi), was also named Mariano Nigro, and he was also from Marano Principato. Despite the name, when I looked into both Nigro families’ genealogies I found no connections, at least back through several generations. If there was any relation, it was presumably distant (Nigro is a common surname in Cosenza).

What specific Lombardo are you wondering about in KC? Chicago’s Joey Lombardo was Bares’ (and his original surname was actually Lombardi). There weren’t many Baresi who settled in KC, and I don’t see a record for anyone from Bari with the Lombardi surname there. There were, of course, a bunch of Sicilians from all around Sicily named Lombardo in KC (Lombardo being one of the most common surnames in Sicily, as well as common in other regions of Italy).
Thanks PT. I noticed the Lombardo's mentioned in Willie Jr's mothers obituary. Looks like a Michael Lombardo married one of her grandchildren. Several of the pallbearers were Lombardos too.

The Mike Lombardo from that obituary married Lisa Ann Nigro, I believe, who should be a daughter of Anthony and Catherine Nigro that I noted above, if I have it all correct.

Could be the same Michael Lombardo who got pinched with the Cammisanos in that big gambling case in 2010. He was born about 1954, but I don’t know much about him otherwise (place of birth, parents). There were several Michael Lombardos in the KC area of about the same age, so I need some more to go on. A provisional guess (with a lot of uncertainty) is that the Lombardo surname in this case was from Santa Ninfa, Trapani, but don’t quote me on it.

FWIW, unlike Nigro, I haven’t seen the Lombardo surname appear anywhere in relation to the KC outfit, apart from the above bust. Not that I’m anywhere near an expert on KC, but it doesn’t seem particularly likely to have been an otherwise mobbed up family. Hopefully BobbyBatts or another poster with more familiarity with KC has more insight.
