Watched that last night. Definitely reminiscent of Falcone, the Maxi-Trial, etc.
All roads lead to New York.

yeah, with the big difference that it is 'Ndrangheta today and not Cosa Nostra in the 1980s, Gratteri is not in any kill list

Thanks for your reply. I'm not well versed on Ndrangheta v Cosa Nostra but are you saying the Ndrangheta typically doesn't go after prosecutors and/or cops?

Like i already said, killing him would be like shooting themselves in the leg , it would be over for them , that would generate so much heat , he is less of a threat alive than dead. This is not 80's or 90's you can't do stuff like that anymore.

Last time mafia in Italy tried something similar was back in 2012 when Sicilian mafia wanted to kill Di Matteo, Matteo Messina Denaro just said to Palermo bosses "It must be done" and it had to be done with bomb in Rome or Palermo.According to informant order came from same people who ordered deaths of Falcone and Borsellino.Explosives were sent from Calabria, they all got arrested before anything could be done. 'Ndrangheta doesn't need that , war on state from 80's and 90's did nothing good for them.It led to their decline.

Ndrangheta is hystorically more low-key concerned high-profile killings, also in 1980s italian mafia overall was more powerful than today

I would argue that they couldn't do it back then. It was in my opinion a total failure. In fact, I've never been able to figure WHY they did it and WHAT was the point...and what the hell they GOT out of it....

Well you had Riina who was only boss of bosses to ever exist in Italy , so it all comes down to what he orders. It's not like today where you would have multiple clans have a say in important decision. We all know Riina didn't do it alone, they just used him for high profile killings, but it didn't bring them any good literally, quite the opposite, it led to their downfall.

It's like..... you saw the recent thing with the heirs of Rosario Riccobonno?

They are literally trying everything they can to resurrect the state of affairs before the massacres. They want to basically rebuild/ reconstitute the 70s.

So to me it's like they spun their wheels for 40 years, Naples and Calabria made all this money in the meantime, just to what? Be back where you started in the 1st place? The Corleonesi were terrible for Sicilian Cosa Nostra.....

That is not possible in this day and age, but they are definitely trying to do what 'Ndrangheta does , completely low profile focused on making money and ruling panel to solve disputes, murder being last resort.
