Pennisi ID'd Pete Oppedisano as a Genovese associate under Tony Federici. Says his brother Joe runs a restaurant controlled by the Luccheses.

Does the info from the waterfront say any of these specific guys are now made members?

Calabrese by birth, Sicilians by adoption

For decades, the 'ndrine have been moving within the Gambino and Genovese families, abandoning their' Calabrian nature 'and' obeying 'the dominant brand . Precisely for this reason, nowhere else, as in New York, is it so difficult to understand the true power - in addition to illicit trafficking - of the 'Ndrangheta. But there are individuals, especially linked to the 'ndrine of Siderno (Commisso-Macrì) , of the Ionian coast, but also linked to the ' heavy 'surnames of the Rosarnese , who today have reached top positions within New York families. Over the years, many have diversified their activities, investing in port logistics and joining companies dedicated to port infrastructures.. It is these individuals who 'invite' young recruits from Calabria to come and work at the port and direct them to the ranks of the Genovese and Gambino families. Surely all this confirms that the Waterfront Commission is still very much

Anyone have some theories or ideas as to who the hell Sergi is referring to? Is she talking about the guys we already know? Or some still hidden figures?

Are there any made guys with surnames from the Siderno or Rosarno people?
Around port Newark Westside allegedly have empty containers storage lots that ties in with their trucking interests and would be a port logistics business mostly outside waterfront commission purview.

Ironbound Intermodal/ Express has been rumored to be with the Westside and is a major port container / trucking player. This is just a rumor but I’ve heard Chin son is involved

Now are these guys moving drugs through the port? Or what is it that they do that they make money from? Sorry not too educated when it comes to the port stuff and genovese.

No idea but highly unlikely they are moving drugs as it’s a major port trucking / container company. Why mess with a legit port logistics company , it’s not how they play the game today however Inflated fees is. They don’t steal from pensions anymore but do all the legal services around managing the plans, big money and hard to bust.

Well, Andrew is on the company website and Vincent Esposito was alleged to half a six-figure no-show job there during his indictment, so...

This is a pretty good example of what I see as contemporary mafia. Command base in Italy, operations abroad.......

I will say this though..... the rackets seem almost swapped around. Usually, I expect extortions in Italy and narcotics trafficking abroad.

An actual Replica/ duplicate of the Ndrangheta organizational structure in NY. Is this a big deal? It seems like it is? This is the 1st real one I've heard of. The Ursinos never really got off the ground I think.

Now.... the question...

Were/are they "with" a NY family? Are they part of the Genovese connected Ndrangheta? Are they part of this network which Sergi considers to be the strongest in NY, the Genovese?

Or do they operate completely autonomously? With no direct tie to the Five families? Either is pretty significant news it seems...

motorfab wrote: Sun Jun 05, 2022 4:33 am Nicola "Nick" Melia, active in Stamford, Connecticut and previously in Montreal, could be one of them. He and his brother Vincenzo were connected to the Commisso brothers and associate with the Gambino Crime Family. We talk about them with antifmafia there viewtopic.php?f=29&t=7930 and there viewtopic.php?t=3243

Nick Melia passed away last year https://www.lacerenzafh.com/obituaries/ ... d=21052158

I also remember an operation targeting members of the Gambino & Bonanno families and members of the 'ndrangheta, I believe it was Operation New Bridge https://www.thedailybeast.com/mafias-co ... a-can-bust
LCNBios also had that article about the old CT Gambino figure Cosmo Sandalo who was an 'Ndrangheta member close to the guys in Canada. He came from the same hometown as the Luppinos. It appears he was inducted into the Gambino Family in the 1970s ('Ndrangheta can't transfer like Sicilian mafia) and his nephew was Tony Megale who was acting underboss. I don't think anything came out about Megale's 'Ndrangheta connections but he must have known people through his uncle.

Very interesting article, especially if there's any truth to 'Ndrangheta-linked Calabrians being made into the Gambino and Genovese Families. Pennisi said they got along and he socialized with them one time, though he was a Lucchese and not involved with the port.

However I disagree with CalabrianWatch about whether or not membership is clear cut. There might be dual memberships, like Sandalo, which can seem confusing to us but in terms of membership with NYC Families that would be completely black and white -- they're either made members in NYC or they're not. Either way I'm interested in any association between the groups.
Nick was my grandmother's first cousin, all born in Cirella, RC. His brother Vince was big in Montreal.

The info in the few articles available is much too scant to answer your questions. The FBI involvement regarding investigation into some extortions on the U.S. side seem to be a very small part of the case, most of which is in the Rocca di Neto area where the Corigliano/Comito clan is based.
