I think there are some interesting takeaways from the 3 bookmaking busts that occured in 2020 or so. (Paloain, DelGuidice, Poeta). Best we can tell the Paloain and DelGuidice deals were most likely connected to Cicero or some remnants of the 26th st crew. But notice that whatever operation D'Amico had that Dote supposedly took over was not touched.
The sheer size of the books mentioned here is evidence that there is still a decent level of demand for a traditional bookie, and that those types of bookies are likely to be outfit connected.

Just curious if anyone knows the Franceschi name in Chicago and if any were involved in the Outfit from the 1920s going forward. I believe the family was from Lucca Sicula and there were brothers named Louis, joseph, Nello and either John B. or Biagio J.

Yes, during the sentencing hearing when the prosecution was arguing for prison time for Amabile the ASA said those exact wordsfunkster wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 6:36 pmDid they say that during his court hearing?Patrickgold wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 10:03 amThe ASA said Amabile was involved in an “organized-crime, big-time, big-stakes, manipulative gambling operation, ”. Yeah, and in the main Chicago thread we've discussed a number of other reputed younger made guys: Louie Rainone, Joey Guarino (these two both hardcore former gangbangers), Jason Nitti (who is both a Nitti and a Cerone), and the LoBue brothers (from Trabia, Palermo). These names came from Antiliar's Cicero source, who had little insight into other crews like Grand Ave or Chinatown. I've also heard rumors that Bobby Panozzo Jr has been a shotcaller/chief for the Ohio and Leavitt C-Notes; he might be somebody, but he's not full Italian so might not qualify for membership anyway.Patrickgold wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 11:00 amFrom the most recent indictment, John Amabile is is in early 30s. No Nose, No Lungs, and No Legs? Jesus. Say what you want about the viability of the Colombos or Philly but at least the active admins made enough money to offset their healthcare costs

DiFronzo was a multi-millionaire when he died, I'd say that was enough to offset the costs.newera_212 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 9:02 pm No Nose, No Lungs, and No Legs? Jesus. Bad attempt at a joke. I know most of the top level Outfit guys were very wealthy, especially those Elmwood Park guys. Any idea if Sarno was a high roller though? Very interesting- thanks for posting
HANG IT UP NICKY. ITS TIME TO GO HOME.
Re: No Nose died three weeks ago
It was my impression that he was an earner. Maybe not a "high roller," but I don't think he was in the poor house when he went away. He was supposedly still getting a piece of the Paloian book even while locked up.newera_212 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 9:18 pmBad attempt at a joke. Re: No Nose died three weeks ago
Sarno was a big earner and wouldn't have been in a senior role (either in his own crew or in the oufit as a whole), if he wasn't. He was just too "street" and aggressive in his activities and it ended up costing him. Firebombing a rival video poker business in the 2000's doesn't fly like it did in the 70's.
