Bonanno and Capone
I read an article and have seen in other places that Bonanno, who was arrested in 1929-1930 time frame for possession of a gun and transportation of machine guns, was for Al Capone. Has anyone found evidence of this connection? Or is it just moblore? Was there any major connection between Bonanno and Chicago after the formation of the Commission?

Probably not because The Castellammarese were allied with Joe Aiello who was Capone's rival

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Bonanno talks about this in his book. The weapons had nothing to do with Capone.Don_Peppino wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 10:26 am I read an article and have seen in other places that Bonanno, who was arrested in 1929-1930 time frame for possession of a gun and transportation of machine guns, was for Al Capone. According to this article https://www.upi.com/Archives/1981/01/12 ... 348123600/ Bonanno was involved with bootlegging with Al Capone. Whether that's true or not is hard to say.

I've seen several articles stating this but I wonder where it comes from? Capone did have Brooklyn roots, so I wonder if there is anything there. I personally doubt it but if anyone can figure out where myth and reality colide, its the Mob Archaeologist...... Could it just be Bonanno transported bootleg liquor from Chicago for Maranzano and Capone gets the credit for name recognition?davidf1989 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 3:17 am According to this article https://www.upi.com/Archives/1981/01/12 ... 348123600/ Bonanno was involved with bootlegging with Al Capone.
