Cicale refers to the crew he inherited as a "degine" (ph). It seems like this is the same pronunciation Massino and Basciano used during their conversations in MDC, with it being transcribed phonetically by the government as "dugime".

Listening to Cicale talk about Mancuso, it reminds me of what Freselone (if I remember right) said about much of the day-to-day mob life hanging around, eating with, meeting with, etc. people you don't really like.

I asked Cicale about Mancuso holding an acting/ official captain position and this was his response:

Yes, Mike was Patty's acting and became Patty's acting prior to VB becoming the acting boss... No, Mancuso was never elevated to a official captain. Vinny is the one who elevated Mike from a acting capo to a acting underboss.

LCN Bios had previously wrote that Mancuso replaced DeFilippo as official captain, though this now appears to be inaccurate.

By May 2004 Vincent Basciano was the Family's Acting Boss. He appointed as his Acting Underboss Michael Mancuso, who had replaced the imprisoned DeFilippo as the Bronx crew's official Captain. Basciano also appointed Salvatore Montagna to serve as the crew's Acting Captain in view of Mancuso's promotion, a choice disputed by the imprisoned Boss. CW Dominick Cicale, formerly one of Basciano's closest associates, later testified: "[Basciano] stated that Joseph Massino sent word back [that Basciano's promotions were] okay with everybody. However, Sal the Iron Worker [Montagna] had to be knocked down because [Massino felt Mancuso] don't need an acting captain...[Basciano] told [Mancuso] don't say nothing. We'll leave [Montagna] where he's at…You know, don't worry about it."

Mancuso not being an official captain also appears to be backed up by the tapes Massino made with Basciano in prison. Basciano repeatedly denies taking DeFilippo's guys away from him (though he acknowledges taking Mancuso from under DeFilippo and making him acting underboss) and they both refer to DeFilippo as still holding his captain position:

MASSINO: In other words, you was on the street. Tommy Lee comes to me and said Vinnie wants to take him [DeFilippo] down. I said no.

BASCIANO: I never said that.

MASSINO: It’s not as good idea.

BASCIANO: I never said that.

MASSINO: I said listen tell him you don’t kick nobody when they’re in jail. Tell him look at Vinnie Asaro. Much as I had Vinnie here because he threw his whole dugime, remember? And I didn’t take him down?

BASCIANO: Joe, I’m not a dope.

MASSINO: You hear what I said?

BASCIANO: I would never done that, Joe.

MASSINO: Alright.

BASCIANO: Captain down.

MASSINO: Then he [DeFilippo] come to me he said Vinnie took all my guys. What is he doing?

On Cosanostranews Cicale confirmed Pennisi's story about Mancuso dating Lubrano's ex wife. He said he planned on killing Mancuso and hoped everyone would think it was Lubrano that did it so that seems to confirm Mancuso and Lubrano had a serious beef.
