Also reported he was the current consigliere of the Genovese.
While the elusive Federici long claimed he was retired from the position of capo in the nation's most powerful Mafia clan, the Genovese crime family, sources say Tough Tony, aka Parkside Tony, was part of the Genovese crime family's formal hierarchy, holding the position of official consiglieri, at the time of his death. Prior, he'd been acting underboss of the crime family.

Interested to see if Capeci mentions rank in any coverage of his death

I would usually dismiss that claim about him being consigliere but Cosanostranews were right about Ragusa being the street boss. Hopefully Capeci covers tough Tony's death. Huge news.

Wow.

Led the dream LCN life. Westside, respected, powerful. Owned a successful restaurant. And died in his own bed. Can't ask for much more in that life.

Amazingly I don't think he did any notable stretches.

He’d make a lot of sense as an admin pick. I believe Barney was close with Diminio. Haven’t heard anything about his relationship with Tough Tony.

LCN is going to look a lot different 10 years from now with all the old time heavyweights that have passed within the last few years and will continue to.

Pasquale Conte is also still with us, last time I checked. Will be 100 soon.

To me this is the most important dynamic in the mob right now. Not just look different but be different in character. People who were born in 1940 are generally quite different from people born after 1970 or especially 1980. (1980 is in my opinion the real tipping point for a change from a kind of "hard" American to "soft" American, if that makes sense. Of course there are many exceptions to this.)

2050s and 2060s I imagine will be the real twilight of the American Cosa Nostra even in New York. Guys born in the 70s will be in their 70s and 80s then.

This will all be fascinating to watch.
