Jerry Gallicchio, Rinaldo Reino Sr. and Jr. were arrested for Cammarata’s murder. The shooter was Joseph Rodriguez who flipped.
I can't find any Chicago information for him. He got married on April 24 1928 in Newark; however he's listed as a Chicago resident in reports about the December 1928 Cleveland mafia meeting.
Nello Cammarata was arrested in Chicago in 1940 outside of Patsy LoLordo’s old social club with Nicola Diana, a paesan’ of LoLordo from Ribera and a likely Chicago member. At that time, Cammarata stated that he lived at 640 N Wabash in Chicago and was working as an olive oil salesman. That address was in a high rise in the wealthy Streeterville neighborhood near the Loop, so I suspect that Cammarata may have used it as a business address when visiting Chicago. Given that he had previously stated that he lived in Chicago at the Statler bust, I’ve wondered if Cammarata maintained a second address in Chicago for years.
Profaci himself lived in and ran a business in Chicago’s Little Sicily in the 20s before relocating to Brooklyn, so it’s unsurprising that his cousin Cammarata had ties there; there were a number of people from Villabate, and many many more from neighboring towns, who settled in Chicago.
Keeping a second home in Chicago suggests a much larger involvement in that city than I thought. I knew he (and Joe Profaci) lived there in the ‘20s.
It’s interesting that, both at his arrest in Cleveland in 1928 and this one, he was with guys from Ribera. He must have had some tie to the LoLordo group.
I think that the Newark breakup happened based on pre-existing ties with other families. Lombardino, Cammarata, and Misuraca did hits for Joe Profaci, seemingly against their boss' wishes, before the breakup.
Tying in to what was said about Nello Cammarata's ties to Chicago, one of the hits linked to this group was the murder of Dominick Scaduto which happened in Chicago in December 1936.
As to why the Vita guys went with the Lucchese family, I'd guess it may have been because of garment sector ties. Another link could have been Steve Badami, seeing as he was linked to Tommy Gagliano, but we don't know what role he might have played. He was the only person from Corleone associated with that family.

Scaduto picked a singularly bad place to hide out, if that’s what he was doing — Grand Ave in Chicago about a block down from Jim DeGeorge’s bakery (also basically right where Vincenzo Benevento was based, who also very likely had ties to BK). With the assumption that the Profaci Family put a hit out on him, he put himself in a place where he would be (and was) very easily found and hit.

Any relation to Colombo capo Harry Fontana? Harry relocated to Tampa and was active at Port Tampa Bay in the 1970s.
I recall seeing somewhere in Greg Scarpa files where Greg, Sal Scarpa, James ‘Jimmy Barber’ Rubertone, and Vincent Mangano were listed under Ambrose Magliocco.
I might be confused myself but I very vaguely remember some MaryFerrell files where Anthony Peraino and one another name was listed under Sam Badalamenti. Leo Carlino may have been under Badalamenti as well.
