3 Lucchese crime family members sentenced today
Ralph V. Perna of East Hanover and two of his sons — all top-ranking members of the Lucchese crime family — were given eight- and 10-year state prison sentences Thursday after pleading guilty to running a multi-billion-dollar gambling enterprise.
Ralph V. Perna, 69, received an eight-year state prison sentence. His sons, John Perna, 38, of Belleville, and Joseph Perna, 46, of Wyckoff, were each sentenced to 10 years in state prison. Charges are still pending against a third son, Ralph M. Perna, 43, of West Caldwell.
All three had pleaded guilty in June to first-degree racketeering, admitting that they ran a gambling and money laundering operation as part of an organized criminal enterprise. They were among 34 people originally indicted in the case in 2010.
The three Pernas were among six major defendants who pleaded guilty in the case in June. The other three — Martin Taccetta, 64, formerly of East Hanover, John Mangrella, 72, of Clifton and Matthew Madonna, 80, of Seldon, N.Y. — had all been sentenced previously, according to Peter Aseltine, a spokesman for the Attorney General's Office.

Amsterdam is a quaint little village compared to most big cities in the USA. And dont get me wrong, I love your country and have actually visited. Unlike you, who I bet has never even set foot in Europe and never will.Wiseguy wrote:Gambling as part of an organized criminal enterprise.Chopper wrote:Jesus christ ten years for gambling. For someone who is always ranting about the facts on all the forums you are quick to judge about a subject you know next to nothing about.
But that's another subject and I don't want to hijack this thread. I never even post here but I got my Tapatalk mixed up after a evening out and some beers in Amsterdam. Something Ivy would propably frown upon too [emoji16] .
You guys did build a very nice forum over here btw. To bad both 'sides' cant just come together because of some stupid Internet bullshit from the past.

Wait...what subject do I know next to nothing about? Amsterdam? I know it's the epitome of Western European excess and indulgence.Chopper wrote:Amsterdam is a quaint little village compared to most big cities in the USA. Nope it really isn't and yeah you know next to nothing about this subject. But again, this really isn't the thread or place to get into that discussion. Maybe stick to the subjects you've actually researched and know about, not the subjects you have some holier than thou deranged opinion of.Wiseguy wrote:Wait...what subject do I know next to nothing about? Maybe not by your standards. And it's not just the pot and legalized prostitution and casino gambling in Amsterdam itself. It's the permissive attitude to vice and weak approach to crime in general, seen throughout most of Western Europe, that I'm talking about. Not one of them has the death penalty, for example.Chopper wrote:Nope it really isn't and yeah you know next to nothing about this subject. And this is pertinent to the thread as far as what kind of sentences mobsters like the Pernas deserve. For societies who actually want to take organized crime seriously, and have adequate laws and punishment to combat it, friggin' Amsterdam or the rest of Western Europe isn't exactly the place to look for a successful model.

Re: 3 Lucchese crime family members sentenced today
See, you really don't now anything about my values. And btw, I do agree with you that the death penalty is something that we definitely could use around here, especially since our spineless leaders have decided that it's a good idea to let in millions of sandapes who hate us and everything we stand for.Wiseguy wrote:Maybe not by your standards. My point is, I've visited the US a lot but I don't pretend to really understand or know the country. I'm not American so that will never happen. You however feel you know everything about a place you've never been because you've already formed this warped view of 'Western Europe' in your head.
That being said, I realise you and me getting into a pissing contest over values and the differences between Salt Lake city and Amsterdam is probably not really gonna go anywhere [emoji38] .

Re: 3 Lucchese crime family members sentenced today
This is not their first gambling case. Joe Perna's car was bugged about 2mos after he got out of federal lock up for a prior Gambling case. Also they had a pretty solid RICO case on them here. They Bugged the ruling panel(matty and john). They watched them be taken to and from a making ceremony of Joe's Brother John and their cousin Joe in Toms River. So it was more then just gambling they showed the structure of the LCN family not with just photo's but they got them all on tape as well to solidify the criminal conspiracy of LCN. They even got the knocking down of Scarfo Jr and the elevation of Ralph Sr to Capo. The bug in Little Joe's cell and Car gave them everything on a silver platter. Had someone else picked up Matty and JOe from Long Branch to drive them to the Cerimony perhaps the RICO portion would have been a little weaker. But is was Lil Joe took the to and from. Forget the smuggling of drugs and phones in prison which they also got on tape with the moron Bloods member calling Joe by name on the phone. The Bug in JOes car and cell pretty much buried everyone associated with the case. Not sure how some of these younger guys died(overdose or suicide??) but they got a pass with death.Chopper wrote:Jesus christ ten years for gambling. In Amsterdam you'd get af fine and probation.

TommyGambino, I deleted your question, I don't see any rhyme or reason why you would ask that question in this thread. And to Wiseguy and Chopper, lets stay on topic, it's a Lucchese crime family thread not a moral standard thread, .......Soliai

I really got personal nothing against Wiseguy btw, just think his view on my part of the world isn't based on reality. Also, things like pot, prostitution and gambling are all around, USA, Europe, everywhere.
Nice forum you build here Soliai, congrats.
