Pharma executives deserve to be held accountable for the opioid epidemic and for rigging our political system so they can continue to legally gouge sick people. You can't say that we should execute drug dealers but leave pharma executives alone. A drug dealer is simply selling someone a drug they are already addicted to; pharmaceutical companies paid doctors kickbacks to write unnecessary prescriptions for highly-addictive drugs. They took advantage of the trust and faith that people have in doctors and engineered an epidemic. Many victims of the opioid epidemic never would have gotten hooked on drugs if the pharma companies hadn't paid their doctors to push opiates on them, while using bogus research to convince them that the drugs were safe and that the risk of addiction was extremely low.

Anyone who profited off of the opioid epidemic should be drawn and quartered. They are worse than drug dealers or anything that a mobster has done.

I agree with this in theory, though the specifics would have to be ironed out considering these drugs do have legitimate applications.

Not only that, but they should be brought up on charges of crimes against humanity for lobbying the government to maintain a pay-for-play private healthcare system. People die everyday because they can't afford basic healthcare. I recently read a story written by a man whose wife vomited so hard from chemotherapy that she actually broke several ribs. There was a type of chemotherapy available that produced milder side-effects, but she couldn't afford it. I would love to see every healthcare executive and every politician who has taken their blood money forced to issue a public apology before being publicly executed. It would signal a new day in America and send a clear message to every greedy scumbag who values the almighty dollar over human life.

If you have private insurance you are already paying for other people's healthcare. Those premiums that you pay every week are used to pay other people's claims.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Say what you will about Tony, but when he found out that woman worked for the insurance company, he did the right thing—he called her a sick cunt and threw her out of his room.

I understand and that would be poor senior citizens, cancer and AIDS patients. That’s who the traffickers are for prescription drugs. Some Drs as well

Some of them, yes. Though I'm not sure how much of a mitigating circumstance that is as far as their part in the opioid epidemic.

All one has to do is look at the widespread damage alcohol and tobacco do to society. I'm talking in all forms. It's much worse than illegal drugs because the widespread availability caused by them being legal. Those who call for legalization of drugs really haven't taken into account the societal damage that would occur if drugs like heroin, cocaine, meth, etc. were legalized. Look at the drug scene in downtown Portland and apply that across the country in cities and towns, big and small. Even the results from the half-assed, piecemeal "war on drugs" over the last several decades is preferable to that.

The difference is its my choice.

VS someone holding a gun to my head under threat of imprisonment.

(OH, also the fact that the private market makes things cheaper vs the government makes things more expensive. So a cheaper free choice vs a threat of imprisonment and artificial higher prices)
