I second this.Hired_Goonz wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 4:37 pm Great info. It's crazy to me that judges will sometimes allow the government to bring up crimes that you haven't been charged with let alone convicted of. "He murdered another guy too. No we never indicted him for it....but a guy we know says he overheard him talking about it in Blimpie's" lol can you imagine you're on trial for your life and they pull stuff like this. I say if a judge allows the government to present crimes you haven't been charged with, the defense should be allowed to make a presentation on past shenanigans and injustices committed by the government.

You would have thought Massino would've taken him out. Probably should have.
Re: USA Motion in Basciano Case
Why? Say what you want about Massino, he played the life perfectly. Huge run making incredible money, limited time in prison, kept 7-8 houses worth millions, and got out at the right time. I don’t respect him turning, but I don’t see a lot of fault in his decisions.Uforeality wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 6:49 pm You would have thought Massino would've taken him out. Probably should have.

Well, I dont think Massino played the life perfectly. And Basciano had the feds breathing down the Bonnanos throats. That indictment read like a fairly tale story of crime and punishment. Basciano was going down forever. He never flipped tho, I'll give him that.jmack wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 6:56 pmWhy? Say what you want about Massino, he played the life perfectly. Re: USA Motion in Basciano Case
Was Basciano in the cross hairs ever since the heroin trial? They really had it out for him. I mean I know the guy was a maniac but there's some things that I have a hard time believing. Cicale did say that Basciano mentioned wanting to kill Cicale's girlfriend after he got exposed with the wife, but Basciano actually drummed up a plan and went to Massino for approval? While Massino already had a track record of turning him down for hits on actual OC related, semi-legit beefs? That doesn't make any sense.
Then, tying the pot-shot shooting of the rogue Bronx numbers operator that took place a good 22'ish years prior, possibly by someone other than Basciano, into the same continuing criminal conspiracy that Basciano was still running in like 2004? After he had already graduated from associate to made man, severed ties from DeFillipo and the head of the policy operation at that time, etc...
I don't doubt that he was a highly active guy, and definitely the real deal...kinda seemed like a psycho frankly... but some of this stuff seems like a stretch. He had a pretty great run, until he didn't. His protégé and his Boss both flip on him. It just reads that the government had a bone to pick specifically with Vinny, much more than any other wide sweeping RICO on any other regular mobster. The same government let a guy responsible for more murders than any one in the modern era say he wasn't guilty, blow trial, and THEN flip... but with Basciano for some reason they stacked everything they possibly could on him

The buck had to stop somewhere.
And Massino made one of the worst decisions in LCN history.
Didnt clip Vitale.
Coppa was first, but Sal flipping was the domino effect and doomed Massino. Joe benching Vitale was his mistake. And he knew it.

Re: USA Motion in Basciano Case
I think this decision shows the human side of Massino. Casso didn’t have that. Gravano whacked his own brother in law. Massino was slightly different.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 8:03 pm The buck had to stop somewhere.

Yeah Ace Aiello reportedly said when Vitale got indicted that “Sal is gonna rat on every fucking body”.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Sat Jul 16, 2022 8:03 pm The buck had to stop somewhere.

Finally, with respect to the solicitation to kill John Doe #6 (the brother of a made member of the Genovese family), based on a dispute between this individual and Anthony Donato, in which the individual hit Donato, Basciano sought permission to kill the individual from Bonanno family boss Joseph Massino. In hitting Donato, the individual (John Doe #6) violate LCN protocol which prohibits “raising one’s hands” to a member of organized crime. Massino denied Basciano’s request to kill John Doe #6.
Do we know who john doe 6 is?
