In 2002, a court affidavit said Gene and his partner, Joseph Scopo, had $500,000 on the street. However, Capeci said his sources said it was over $1 million. And that was 13 years after Gene was imprisoned. After Joseph Scopo was killed, his brother Ralph assumed control of his share of the operation. As long as people are on the street to collect, it doesn't necessarily matter how long somebody is in prison.dreww wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 1:46 pm The guy was put away well over 30 years ago. I could be wrong, but this idea a has/had a book this whole time and is still collecting juice and principal is a fantasy. He's probably staying with family, and living off social security and whatever else himself and his family may have going for him.
And if he did matriculate back into the Gambinos, what the hell what he do? Pick up coffee and pastries? I know the italian mob still exists but people want it to be something it's not so bad.

Think that puts to bed the rumour Alite started about Gene Gotti slapping Joe Gambino in prison if he’s in good standingJohnnyS wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 4:46 amInformed sources on both sides of the law tell Gang Land that Gotti, who was a family capo when he began his prison stretch, is still a wiseguy in good standing who has earned the right to retain an active role in the revamped Gambino borghata that is currently led by its Sicilian faction.
"He's well-liked, and a well respected guy," is how a knowledgeable underworld source put it, who noted that even though "it's a different world out there today," there is a place in it for Gene Gotti. "That is," the source added, "if he wants it. He's old, but not that old. He could do whatever he wants."
"Gene is a legitimate tough guy and will be a wiseguy 'til the day he dies," said one law enforcement source. "He's a lot smarter and wiser than most, and he's a standup guy. He could have taken a plea deal (to drug dealing charges) and gotten seven or eight years, but the boss said no guilty pleas allowed, so he went to trial, got convicted, and got 50 years. And he maxed out."

Re: Gene Gotti
Good question. I feel like over the years I've read about and heard about so much Gotti shit...even as recent as some of Sammy's new podcasts... that all of the names and events from that era just all blend together and I forget what was actually reported as happening. I could be wrong but weren't all of the shooters mentioned in Underboss? And by proxy, since he's essentially rehashing those stories on YouTube now, one of the Podcast episodes? I could be wrong but I feel like Gene wasn't a shooter, but definitely was a part of the planning and met up with everyone before the hit. Unless he was dealing with other charges, he wasn't sentenced and remanded until 1989 for his big pinch I'm pretty sure
They said they met in the community center of a NYCHA building on the Lower East Side the day of the hit, I think it was the Baruch Houses right along the FDR - someone knew the Superintendent and they all met there. Smart place to meet, unlike how the Ravenite was set up, it would be very difficult to stake out and get surveillance if someone happened to see a bunch of wiseguys walk into one of the buildings or pull into the parking lot

Re: Gene Gotti
Gene Gotti is a gangsters gangster. Hes been a criminal his whole life. Loyal to Cosa Nostra. If anyone here thinks he gets out of prison and he's reformed, well, that's naive. He's probably not going full "Chickie" on people and pulling guns out but he's a well liked and respected mobster. This is his life.

Re: Gene Gotti
If you serve 29years of a 50 year term (as Gene did) does that mean you're on parole for the remainder of the sentence? Ie he breaks the law he's back in for the 21years not served?
Don't give me your f***ing Manson lamps.
Re: Gene Gotti
He would not be on parole for 21 years. He would be on parole for certain period of time and then he would be discharged from his sentence and released from parole way before 50 years through earned time from classes and good time.

There is no corroborating evidence. Their star witness killed 19 people and served almost 20 years for dealing drugs, AFTER cooperating. Not exactly someone you want in front of the jury.NYNighthawk wrote: ↑Sun Jul 10, 2022 7:29 pm I still believe they could charge Watts, Gene, carnegilia and whoever else was on the caste4llano hit. Gravano said he had 11 people on it.
Not to mention, he has changed his story a lot lately. Maybe not with this story but in a lot of other stories online.

Cornerboy, don’t feel bad it’s definitely interesting to some people here. There’s a lot of douchbags that only comment to try and make people look bad. I don’t have much information on this topic but stay clear of certain knuckleheads on here.
Re: Gene Gotti
Look at the Frankie Loc thing. He testified against him then submitted an affidavit saving Frankie had no idea DB was going to get whacked.
Re: Gene Gotti
When Cali was murdered, I swear I thought Carneglia and Gene Gotti were involved. His murder conincided with them getting released and there is no one left in the Gambino family with the killing experience as them two. It’s possible they could make a play for the top. We now know this isn’t true.
