It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

That's untrue As well as Nicky having no part in it as well. And I don't think JoJo came into the fold with Gotti till after he was boss I believe.
Re: Castellano hit 30 years ago
In hindsight, it was way too many guys. More chances of one being apprehended or flipping later on. But it went off without a hitch, and was Gotti’s high point, before Gravano spilled the beans.johnny_scootch wrote:4 shooters and 5 back up men? Plus Gotti & Gravano are in a parked car down the block right? Seems like way to many guys to have on the scene at once.Hailbritain wrote:100% zero , the shooters were John carneglia , Eddie Lino , salvatore Scala and vinnie artuso , the backups were allegedly angelo ruggiero , iggy alogna , Joe watts , tony roach rampino and possibly dominik pizzonia

No corroborating evidence.Hailbritain wrote:Why did none of the shooters or back ups ever get indicted after gravano identified them ??
You cant convict someone of murder purely because someone says so.

Re: Castellano hit 30 years ago
What would have happened if someone, before Decicco got up and nominated Gotti, stood up and nominated someone else? Would they be killed on the spot?
Said at one of the meetings Gravano and Ruggiero were pacing behind the captains with a gun so I am assuming that would be the case and they knew the deal

Re: Castellano hit 30 years ago
hello hail brit, rumors that one of the guys on the hit, shooter or not was a high echelon informant. sam was only guy to testify about other murders at trial so no need for two witnesses
Re: Castellano hit 30 years ago
if they would pinch only some of the guys ,they would wonder why the other guy were not pinched
Re: Castellano hit 30 years ago
I just thought of this now....
Was the Sparks meeting a "REAL MEETING" or was the whole thing a ruse to kill the boss and newly named UB?
And another thing, who was everyone to be at the actual meeting, ruse or not?

From what I recall according to FBI SA Bruce Mauw and CI's, there was a meeting scheduled over garbage hauling contracts. I don't remember who he was meeting with though.

According to Sammy The Bull, it was a "REAL MEETING" but the murder plot was thought out by the Gotti loyalists days before. They had planned on Old Man Paruta, who was in Sammy's crew, to walk into a diner in Brooklyn were Bilotti & Castellano usually ate, and shoot Castellano whom didn't know Paruta. It was Frankie DeCicco who informed Gravano & Gotti that Castellano had sent him a message to be at a meeting. The people that were going to be there was Bilotti, Castellano, Frankie DeCicco, Danny Marino, Jimmy Failia & Tommy Gambino. That right there tells you it was an actual meeting as DeCicco was really the only Gotti loyalist whom was scheduled to attend. During the shooting DeCicco stayed in the restaurant to keep Marino & Failia from interfering and to relax their nerves sort of, afterwards. DeCicco didn't know what the meeting would be about however.

I'm sure there were several more Intel reports tracing his final days. I remember reading that from The Bull. However, knowing what a dishonest, slimy POS that he is, we gotta take the details and the source with a grain of salt. The Feds could have pressured him to say it was a top echelon meeting among his most trusted to create a media frienzy in those days. The Feds wanted Gotti more than anybody on the planet and the media was reporting on OC in much more detail than ever before, could have been a way for the media to expose who these guys really were. Especially in Gotti's case. He killed his wife's brother with no hesitation, he's got no soul. Gravano was a bonafide serial killer and a socio/psychopath. He admitted to 19, he had a pretty long run. 10-1 there were more. It's a fascinating topicOlBlueEyesClub wrote:According to Sammy The Bull, it was a "REAL MEETING" but the murder plot was thought out by the Gotti loyalists days before.
