Philly mob /Sopranos similarities

Post by mpl0215 »

Everyone believes the Decavalcantes are the inspiration for the Sopranos, but I think David Chase received alot of inspiration from Philly . Joey and Tony ,both had fathers and uncles in the mob.Young bosses bridging the old and new factions. Natale as his front boss / Uncle Jr. Joey being a Jockey ,Tony owning horses. Feech Lamanna story about the mobster stabbing someone to death over a corner table / Scarfo diner story. I remember reading Nicky Jr. Being the inspiration for Chrissy. Scarfo mom or Rita Merlino and Liva Soprano similarities.

The basic idea of a small indigenous family in New Jersey certainly came from the DeCavalvantes. But one can see influences in characters and storylines from the whole Northeast region.
All roads lead to New York.

I disagree. It was The DeCavalvante Family 100%. Chase took nothing from Philly. If anything, Chase took stuff from the NY Families. Philly? No. Interesting thought though...

I read somewhere the NJ Lukes but don’t quote me on that
"He killed 16 Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator."

"Really? His house looked like shit."
